December 14, 2017

Almost a week without Francis proved to be challenging in more ways than one. The kids were sick for much of the time which meant we missed out on some of the fun in which we would have otherwise partaken. There were some bright spots though!

Last Thursday after I finished writing the kids and I went to the library before dinner so that they could make gifts for each other and me. They have a special event each year where they put out a bunch of supplies and kids and adults can construct gifts. While we were there, someone ran in the room and yelled, "It's snowing!" Of course we had to investigate and sure enough, big bright flakes were falling. Hannah had never seen snow and Robert had only seen it as a baby. All three kids happily ran through the flakes and stuck out their tongues to catch any snow they could. On the drive home, the thickness of the snow falling was noticeable. It was nearly like driving in fog. We got home and had dinner and sure enough...it was STILL snowing. And what's more, it was STICKING on the ground! The kids went out to play in it. At first Hannah thought she didn't need a coat or shoes, but she quickly realized mommy was right and hurried back to be better dressed. When the kids went to bed, there was about an inch of snow on the ground, and I promised them they could play in any snow that was left in the morning. Well, it snowed and snowed. College station gets snow that sticks once every decade, and never snow like this. By my bed time, there was at least 3 inches of snow on the ground and 4 or 5 on objects like the swing set and dog house. I search through the kids rooms in the dark and miraculously found 3 pairs of ski pants to fit all three kids as well as gloves, hats and boots to go with their coats. I set them out for the morning. The kids were up at the crack of dawn on Friday (who can blame them?!) and were excited to put on "snow clothes". We headed out before breakfast and played for over an hour and a half. After breakfast we went out and played more. Finally it was time to head to my friend Robin's house where she hosts an annual gingerbread house making party. Hot chocolate and good company were the perfect end to our morning. The only thing better would have been if Francis could have seen it!

William was up Friday night and Saturday morning with some sort of stomach bug, and thankfully no one else caught it. We couldn't go anywhere on Saturday as a result though. He was fine all day Saturday and so Sunday we went to church and AWANAS. Going into Sunday evening the runnning noses began. After a rough night, I took the kids to the doctor Monday morning and all three kids were diagnosed with sinus infections. No fun. So we've spent the rest of the week avoiding the world and going slightly stir crazy. We've gone to get gas an a couple last minute Christmas presents, but that's about it. the kids and I leave for Dallas in the morning (with Francis to follow later), so I'm praying everyone is healthy enough for travel by then...

Tuesday evening Francis got home from Tennessee. There was great rejoicing! Francis took us around to look at Christmas nights that evening and last nigh we had hot chocolate with him and lit the fire. It is so good to have him home. He thinks he got good results from his experiments but he still has to crunch all the numbers. It's one step closer to graduation!

December 7, 2017

Regular events are winding down and Christmas merriment is in full swing.

Last Friday our church had "O Holy Night" for our kids which consisted of a pancake dinner, reading of the Christmas story, crafts, petting zoo and pictures with Mary and Joseph in front of a manger scene. It was a very special night for our family and I am so glad we started the Christmas season being reminded of what all of it truly means.

Saturday Francis and William went to Spark camp at A&M where William learned about different fields of engineering and participated in different challenges. He had a great time and Francis was adequately impressed. Robert, Hannah and I went to Target, Walmart, Payless, and had lunch at the mall. We also went to the library that same morning for a Christmas event. Needless to say all three of us needed a nap by the afternoon, but we had a ton of fun! That evening I went with the ladies from my Sunday School class to have a progressive dinner at three people's houses. It was so so fun!!! The conversation was good and the food delicious. I got to know some people better and would happily do it again.

Sunday was full of Sunday school and AWANAS, but Hannah and I made a girls trip during Awanas to Target and Toys R Us to try to finish up shopping. She is still at the age where she looks around and never down when she is in the cart, so I was able to finish up shopping for the kids and send her to play on the mechanical train while I checked out. the clerk thought it was hilarious and double bagged everything so Hannah would be none the wiser. It was a great evening.

Grocery shopping al la Monday was uneventful, but Monday evening Audrey B took me out for a belated birthday ice cream and we watched a movie together. She is amazing! Tuesday was our last CC class of the semester. During lunch we had cookies and special treats while each kid got the ornament they had made a couple of weeks prior. Our are proudly hanging on the tree. I'm happy to have survived my first semester tutoring. I'm happy for a little break. Tuesday evening was tutor training though. Happily it included a yummy dinner so I can't complain.

Yesterday we weren't feeling great, but we did manage to go to the library to return and check out books. It has been raining and cold since Tuesday evening (it just finally stopped I think), so getting out has not been high on the priority list. When Francis got home, we did climb int he car and look at Christmas lights. It was kind of nice to see them sparkle in the rain. Not a bad way to spend an evening.

Speaking of Francis, he left in the wee hours of the morning to conduct some research in Tennessee. He made it this afternoon and will be there until Tuesday. The kids and I stayed home this morning to work on Christmas gifts, and we will be going to the library soon to allow the kids to make any gift they want (it's a special event). I'm looking forward to Tuesday when my husband gets back, but I am hoping to keep us busy until then.

Wish us luck!

November 30, 2017

Life around here has been, in a word, nuts! We've been busy with school and fun and family time with not room for much else. It's a good nuts, but if the 2 hour accidental nap I took today is any indication, I'm in need of a little rest.

The week before Thanksgiving was chocked full of fun including a field trip to hear Aesop's Fables at the George Bush Library.  Turns out my cousins kids were watching via long distance learning and their school was selected to ask the presenter questions. I got to see their sweet faces and the kids were excited too!

We headed up to Dallas the Friday before Thanksgiving. We had the twins second birthday on Saturday and got to see The Star movie with my in-laws that evening. Francis had to head back Sunday evening but the kids and I stayed in Dallas to play with family. The boys loved climbing the trees at Sweetie and Papa's house (William even fell out and was rescued by his leg getting caught...which he thought was "amazing" and I thought was terrifying). All the kids loved driving around the pasture and playing in the playscape. Tuesday my entire family (minus Francis) went to Legoland for the twins actual birthday. The kids had a blast especially since we had more adults than kids to take them on rides and such. Wednesday was my birthday and my sisters, Kevin, Francis (who returned the night before) and the 5 cousins all went with me to the mall for shopping and lunch. I wasn't feeling great, so we had a quiet evening of Pizza and present opening at home (I got some good stuff!). My mother was was feeling even worse than me, and it turns out she had the flu and strep. So come Thursday (Thanksgiving) she was unable to join us. My sisters and I along with Mom Noble and Aunt Camille bravely forged ahead and made a delicious Thanksgiving meal. My dad cooked all the turkeys, so he really should get much of the credit for the meals success! Although my mother's absence was felt it was still a nice day and the weather was perfect.

Friday we made our pilgrimage to San Antonio to be with the Phillips clan. We got to the hotel shortly after my in-laws and settled in quickly. We all ended up happily eating and watching the parade from my in-laws room (Hannah was particularly fond of following Abby around, and Abby didn't mind). I was surprised by a cake and more gifts! So I ended up having 2 birthday parties. How many people get that?? Saturday we all went to Sea World. Cyndy and Chris were kind enough to take Abby and William on some of the bigger rides. Hannah and Nana rode the carousel and Robert loved the Shamu roller coaster. We saw a few shows and Grandad even took one for the team by getting soaked with Abby and William on a river raft ride. We had dinner with Santa to finish off the night. It was an excellent day.

We headed home Sunday where they kids (and Francis) were eager to put up Christmas decorations. As a result, they did most of the decorating this year. The boys have our old tree in their room and Hannah has my tree from College in her room. It looks very festive. I'm working on getting Christmas shopping done and then I will focus on getting it wrapped so I can sit back and soak in the wonder of our Savior's Birth. I'm hoping to be done buying this week and be done wrapping next, but we'll see!

Update on the kids: Hannah has developed her own fashion. She has been wearing her dress up clothing with, on top of or instead of her regular clothing when we leave the house. I just roll with it because she looks so happy and it's kinda cute too. Robert is ever the creative thinker and has developed a love of telling jokes. When he gets the hang of it, I know he's going to be hilarious. William is plugging away reading all the time. We had the 100th day of school yesterday and celebrated with ice cream. William said it was the best day of school ever. Maybe we should have ice cream every day? or not, haha.

That's it for now!

November 9, 2017

Time is going fast these days. And it's the Holiday season so time around here goes at light speed.

Friday before last The kdis and I drove up to Abilene for HSU Homecoming and my 10 year College Reunion. It was a dinner and I got to spend time with Rebecca (even though she wasn't an '07 graduate). It was a fun time and I'm glad I didn't miss it. Saturday continued Homecoming with a breakfast in Moody, pictures with Rachel, Rebecca and Jonas, and  Kids' Posse outside (where Hannah loved riding the horses and the boys loved the bounce houses) all before lunch! We had lunch with my parents, Danielle, Kevin, Rebecca and Jonas. William had the crepe for which  he has waited all year. It did not disappoint. They had a piano man and so my kids and Jonas happily danced after they ate. We watched the first half of the Homecoming football game before he had to head home. My kids are actually great at cheering at Football. Robert is particularly enthusiastic, and it adorable.

The next say (Sunday) was Fall Fest at church. The kids got to jump in more bounce houses, play games, eat, and collect candy. Hannah was great at this last skill as she fully believed "take two" meant two handfuls. And when I went to correct her, they would always say, "no she's fine. Isn't she cute." Okay kid, but next year, they won't let you get away with it! Tuesday we had the week off from CC so we went to the Children's Museum in the morning. They happened to have Trick or Treating there (I had no idea) so after the kids played they got to get some fun toys. It was particularly bad weather Tuesday evening, but we ventured out any to Wolfpen Creek Park where they were having an event. We got soaked from the rain and after about 30 minutes lightning struck nearby and they had to cancel the rest of the event. But the kids got a ton of candy and we were even on the news! How do I know we were on the news? The Jehovah's Witness ladies we see every Wednesday at the Library told us so, lol. They said, "I saw two Iron men and an Ariel on the news last night!" FYI they were Charizard, a Transformer and Elsa at Fall Fest two days before. I love that they just pick whatever they want from our dress up clothing!

Friday was another crazy busy day. We had play group in the morning, a short break that included school, then Jude's birthday party in the afternoon and parent's night out that evening. Francis and I got to see Thor on opening night! If that wasn't enough action, when we got home, the Burgess family came in town to spend the night. All the kids were up past 10 and the adults up well past midnight. Such a fun day!

Saturday was a reunion of Francis's college friends: the Burgess Family, us and the Browers (most of them). We had breakfast and played at Dave and Tracy's. The Burgesses, Audrey Brower and we had lunch at Blue Baker. Then we let all 7 Burgess-Phillips kids play in the afternoon before seeing off our friends over Bahama Bucks. You can bet our kids slept well that night!

This week has been moving along too! Yesterday the kids and I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival. It was so fun! We got to see Jousting (and learn about the 100 years war as the characters included King Henry the VIII and Joan of Arc). We learned about blacksmithing. We learned about falconry. We also learned about whips and how they break the sound barrier. We saw shows, played game and ate yummy food. We also walked through a beautiful garden that looked like jungle. I carried Hannah all day but the boys walked and I was super proud of them. We made it back to the car just in time for it to start raining so it was a win all around! I'm so glad we had the opportunity to go.

Well, that's all I've got time for just now. Until next time!

October 24, 2017

It is so true what they say: the days pass slowly but the years pass quickly. Some moments take what seems like forever and then I turn around and more than a week has passed since I last wrote.

Sunday before last was our church's The Church Has Left the Building event. After a brief worship that morning, more than 1,000 people left to serve in our community. Our group of 70 or so went to help at a special needs summer camp called Kingdom Ranch. The men cleared many trees and brush and completed many other jobs. Most of the women painted a small house near the front of the property so that a family could have a place to live while managing the grounds. Any child over Kindergarten had to go on the service projects with their parents (younger kids had fun at church all day), so William came and helped clear branches, picked up, and even helped me paint. His biggest job was helping put down painters tape all over the house which he took very seriously. I really enjoyed serving with him. It took a good part of the day and at the end we were so tired, but it was good to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community.

Monday was Francis's birthday. It was also his preliminary for his PhD. I'm proud to report he passed and is now officially a doctoral candidate! When he got home Robert was not feeling great so we had Layne's Chicken at home, but on Tuesday we did get to eat out at Texas Roadhouse. Francis loved all of his gifts from family including the gifts the kids picked out especially for him. He also loved the carrot cake the kids made an decorated for him. Overall it was a good birthday. I'm so happy he is mine.

Thursday was a big day. The kids and I got up early, piled in the car and drove south of Houston to Space Center Houston for Homeschool day. We met up with Angel, her mom, Ranger and Asher and had an amazing day! They had so many exhibits and presentations from scientists and astronauts. The kids got to see what the space shuttle actually looks like up close! They also saw the module from the first moon landing. My kids did not want to leave when it was time to go and I don't blame them one bit. there was so much to learn!!!

Friday evening the boys and Francis went on a very successful Father/son camping trip with our Sunday school class. Hannah and I had a picnic in the living room and then walked to two different parks to play. Hannah insisted on bringing all her babies with her but finally settled on bringing just three. She put them each in a swing on the playground and pushed them much to the amusement of passers-by. It was a good evening with my baby girl.

Saturday was another early morning. The boys got back, picked up Hannah and me and we drove the Blessington Farms outside of Houston. We met up with the whole Phillips clan and my kids got some much needed cousin Abby time. My father-in-law got his birthday presents a day early, and a good time was had by all. The weather was touch an go for a while, but it all turned out great. Talk about an exciting 3 days in a row! This time of year, we never slow down. Fun fun!

William is reading every chance he gets. He is also beginning to test the boundaries of rules as he asserts his independence. He's not doing anything particularly bad or wrong, just trying to figure out life. I love him and his amazing brain. It is never dull with him around and I never know what question I am going to get next.

Robert is also sharp as a tack. He thinks up situations that never enter my mind and then asks every question he can think about said situation. He is also so cuddly still and I will hold on to every moment of it for as long as it lasts. He is just too cute (something William refuses to be called but Robert loves). He's also recently grown a bit and is hovering right at 40 inches. It was weird to see his shorts be over his knees one week and just above the next week. My day is not complete with out a sweet smile from his 4-year-old face.

Hannah is showing signs of becoming a preschooler. She is talking so much, making jokes, playing with her brother collaboratively, and and has an unmistakable personality. She lets you know what she is thinking and will make sure she gets her turn to talk or do whatever the boys are doing. She's getting tall and 3T clothing is currently the best fit for her 2-year-old frame. Like her brother Robert, she gives the best hugs. She can see you from across the room and come running at you to give you a huge hug. The boys know this and sometimes intercept these hugs from me because they are so amazing. Fortunately she usually has more than enough hugs to go around.

That's it for now. It's time to gear up for the rest of my crazy week and weekend. Till next time!

October 12, 2017

I can't believe it's been two weeks since my last post. So much has happened I have no hope of putting it all down.

Friday before last I awoke very early (after arriving with the kids and Francis in Dallas late the evening before) to catch the 6:00am flight to Denver. My amazing travelling companion was my sister Danielle! We were picked up at the airport by the bride-to-be Erin. We had a long but productive day getting all the decorations ready, having a bridesmaids lunch and getting checked into our hotel that evening (an adventure in itself!). Erin did introduce us to some pretty impressive Pizza, though, and the hotel we stayed in was just perfect. I went to bed completely wiped out, but glad I was able to be there for Erin. The breakfast that morning was amazing and after a few errands and brunch at a sweet little place near Georgetown, the bridesmaids, Danielle and Erin all got ready for the big event. Next we headed to the venue, which was a train station. Midway through setting up, a cold front came through and the rain started. That did not deter the dedicated crew and I stood cold but happy as Erin took her vows. The train ride reception was both unique and fun. Also, thankfully, it was warm and dry. Danielle and I sat across from another one of the bridesmaids, Lilly and her boyfriend. Together the four of us had a delightful time. After loading all the decorations back in the cars, We hugged Erin and Tom goodbye. Erin's sweet mom drove us back to a hotel by the airport that evening where we spent another short night.

Sunday morning we were up for a 7am flight. It ended up being extra fun because Dani and I were part of the first flight by Southwest's new MAX 8 airplanes. It was cool to be the first one to sit in a seat on a plane, and the crew was super peppy! Because we are crazy, we headed straight for the great State Fair of Texas upon landing in Dallas. We met up with the rest of the Noble Clan as well as Francis and my kids. Francis and the kids had done the Grapevine Aquarium, Legoland, and the Dallas Zoo all in the two days I was gone, so they are slightly crazy too. Anyway, the Fair was fun even though the puppet show wasn't there this year. It was nice to have Francis there for once since he usually has to stay home. Poor Alexandra fell off a tall step and hurt her foot. She's still healing so please be praying for her! My kids particularly loved the new Magic show and the fireworks. They've been reenacting both ever since (with Pokemon added in for good measure).

The week was a bit of a blur, but I did have Tutor training, Parent's night out (we had dinner and then relaxed at home...yeah we're old), and generally tried to get back in the groove. Thursday the kdis and I went on a CC field trip to Barrington Family Farm (the home of the 3rd president of Texas, and the Star of the Republic Museum at Washington-on-the-Brazos). The kids learned all about the 1850s. They did chores on the farm, saw all the animals, made old fashioned toys and were exhausted by the end. It was a good day full of fun and learning. I found out Hannah really loves washing clothes on a washboard and hanging them out to dry. Who knew?  Saturday evening I went with Robin to see a local production of  Beauty and the Beast. Turns out than in real life Belle and Gaston are engaged so that made some of the interactions more interesting/compelling than they would have likely been otherwise. Not sure how else to say that, but the show was very good!

This week we've been getting ready for Francis's birthday which is on Monday. I've been giving him a little gift each day (like a special edition luggage tag which I got from my special flight, or his favorite drink or snack, etc). I've also been making some of his favorite food. He doesn't get to pick very often and the kids usually don't want to eat what he loves (like Lasagna and Meatloaf) so this week he gets it all. We decorated today and will make and decorate the cake tomorrow (this is one of my favorite traditions to do with the kids!). Today we also spent most of the morning at Walmart so that the kids could each get a gift that they thought Daddy would like. This was hard for them, but after much thought, they each came up with something they thought Daddy would like. It is hard to get Francis stuff because he never tells you what he wants, but I think he will be pleased with what they chose.

Well that's it for now!

September 25, 2017

It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks. Francis went to Houston to help with Hurricane Harvey cleanup Saturday before last. William did not understand why he had to be gone on a Saturday. Nothing I could tell him would make him understand. Finally I asked him to imagine that all his Pokemon cards had gotten ruined and that he would have to start his collection over. He had tears well up in his eyes. I told him that many people lost all their Pokemon cards, all their furniture and all their things. He was then glad Francis was there to help. I'm thankful for a husband who wants to help.

This past week we continued in our weekly routine until Thursday night when my sweet friend Rebecca and he son Jonas came to visit us from Abilene. She is on sabbatical from work and blessed us by spending some time with us. We took the kids to the park Friday morning for playgroup, had lunch at Mcalister's Deli (where I left my credit card and didn't discover it until Saturday, but it was safe!), played around the house in the afternoon, had a delicious tortellini dinner and then went on an evening walk to the closest park. It was a lazy day, but the kids had a blast. Rebecca and I talked past midnight that night. My soul was renewed by spending time with this kindred spirit. I could've talked hours more. Saturday morning after breakfast they headed back. The kids were sorry to see Jonas go. Hopefully we will see them again when we go to Abilene in October!

Saturday was a busy day. After our house guests left I discovered my credit card was gone while checking out at Walmart, and had to go get it. I'm so glad it was still there! All of us then went to the Classical Conversations Family Fun pool party at someone's house. They had a pool and a huge inflatable water slide. We were able to swim and watch the A&M game (which we couldn't do at home). After the party we headed to Hadassah's 3rd birthday party at a gym place in town, so my kids got to run around for another hour and a half. It was such a fun day, but whew we were ready for bed that night!

In other news, Hannah has taken a shine to wearing jewelry. She has been wearing ALL of her jewelry (3 necklaces and 6+ bracelets) every day, all day unless I make her take them off. She keeps saying that they are "beautiful". She also wants to wear the googles from swimming all the time, but I finally hid them and she hasn't asked today. I would let her wear them except they are hard and leave marks on her face. She tries to sleep in them too. She loves to accessorize!

Robert is starting to spell and read a few words. I'm not pushing him. He wants to read like William, so we are taking it slow. He's also started doing single digit addition on his own with high accuracy. I love that he's motivated. He's becoming more of a preschooler every day. I'm biased but I've got some smart kids over here.

William is doing great with his first grade curriculum. He's getting faster at wiriting (thank goodness as it's not his favorite!), and he's loving all the challenges of 2nd grade math. He's doing well in AWANAS (so is Robert) and I've decided to build in some time for studying his verses during rest time. It's been working out really well and I think he's starting to meditate on what the verses actually me.

All the kids are starting to do more around the house. I'm working on creating responsible future adults, and in turn they are teaching me to be patient. Just because I can do it faster down't mean I should.

That's it for now!

September 14, 2015

Life has been rolling along here at Phillips Manor (or whatever you want to call where we live). Labor Day weekend we ended up in Dallas. We got to spend Saturday with my family hanging out and supporting my mother at a Labor Day rally. The kids had fun on the massive playground and loved the popsicles. Hannah even got her face painted for the first time and loved it. Sunday we went to church and spent time with my in-laws. they had been in Houston the day before helping with clean-up efforts, so it was nice to see them. We headed back to College Station after dinner. My second week of tutoring the boys' class went much smoother. We are checking out more and more books at the Library on Wednesdays and William is blowing through novels in a day or two. This kid loves loves loves to read. In fact, he doesn't hear you when he is reading. I'm working on finding the best way to get his attention when he is reading, but I'm not complaining that he has a thirst for the written word. It will serve him well in life.

This past weekend was Robert's 4th birthday. Since his birthday was a Sunday, he got to chose his birthday activity early. On Thursday we went to Jumping World trampoline park and had the place pretty much to ourselves. The kids really love the foam pits there! Since there were not other kids (only a couple at the end), the employees played "dodge-ball" with my kids and ran around with them too. It was so fun! Saturday we had Chick-fil-a for dinner because Robert wanted it for his birthday meal and they aren't open on Sunday. We ended up buying extra so we could have it for dinner Sunday too. Robert was one happy kiddo. His actual birthday consisted of opening a couple presents, church, lunch at Rudy's BBQ (his choice), rest time and playing with his toys, AWANAS and chick-fil-a for dinner. Robert is so smart. He can write his name, draws pretty interesing pictures, asks why questions all the time, is always thinking, has an imagination that astounds me, is active, is loving, cares for others, and is cute as can be! We love you Robert. Happy Birthday!

This week we are settling into our routine. This Tuesday went pretty smooth also and I am starting to look forward to Community Day. The kids in my group are so smart and eager that it does make my task a joy. Yesterday William and Robert had their yearly check-ups. William is over 52 lbs and over 47 inches. He's looking forward to riding the "over 48 inches" rides soon, though I'm not sure where or when he thinks that will happen. Robert is 32 1/2 lbs and over 39 inches. He's growing right on his growth curve and healthy as can be. He's starting to look long and lean just like his momma did as a kid. The kids all got their flu shots. Hannah was eager to go first, Robert was content to go second, and William hid under the table and we had to hold him to give him hid shot. It takes all kinds, and it just proves my kids have personalities all their own.

That's all I have for right now. Life's too busy to type too much. Gotta get back to life! Till next time!

September 1, 2017

This past week has held a lot of tears (both happy and sad). The rain started in earnest here early Saturday morning. It wasn't so bad here at first, but I woke up truly believing my kids would have no one at their party. I underestimated the wonderful people that we have in our lives. After fretting far more than I should all morning, every friend came save the ones stuck in Houston (which is understandable!)!!! I shed tears of joy at the love these people poured over us. It was a sweet time with cupcakes, pinatas and, of course, Pokemon. The kids had a blast!!! My family and in-laws all made it in miraculously by early afternoon so we had a family party with the whole family save those stuck in Houston and Austin. The boys got a ton of Pokemon cards (their favorite)! Again I shed happy tears. Thank you friends and family. You touched my heart more than you will ever know. Thank you for loving me and my children!

The rain continued through Sunday, and we had a little trouble making it to church, but it was fine. we had 700 people in the service when the pastor was thinking there would be less than 50. We don't like missing church! It rained through most of Monday, and we got around 25-30 inches over the weekend, but thanks to a ton of pasture land and good flood planes, I was never worried about flooding. And now because we are in such good shape and so close to Houston, we are able to house many of the rescue workers in town, fuel up aircraft and our church is currently open to house medical teams at night. I'm happy with how available our community if to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. We are in it for the long haul.

Francis had volunteered overnight and gone through official disaster relief training. I pray he will be a light when he is called down to Houston in the next month or two for clean up. I've been collecting up needed items and getting them to people/group who are driving down. I cry because it doesn't feel like enough. But God is in control and so I pray for those impacted.

Tuesday we started a new year of Classical Conversations. I am tutoring the boys' class this year, and so Tuesday was my first day back teaching in a classroom setting in years. It was bumpy and teaching my own kids was more challenging than I anticipated, but we made it through with the grace and love of the other moms in the room. I love my CC community. Hopefully next week will run smoother and I will get into a good groove. It was Robert's first time in class ever and he LOVED it. I'm so glad.

That's all for now. The kids are doing well. They have been enjoying the boys' birthday gifts, doing school, and being kids. Till next time!

August 24, 2017

We had a fun play date with the Davis Family last week. Friendships were renewed and the house was fulled with laughter from both mommas and kiddos.

The theme this past week or so had been responsibility and perseverance. I taught the boys how to make their bed and how to bring their plate the sink when they are done, and now they are responsible for it each morning and meal respectively. So far, it's not been a problem. They fussed about it when I taught them, but I've gotten no grumbling since then. I'll call that a win. Saturday morning the boys got up, made their beds without being asked, offered to set the table, cleaned up after breakfast, got dressed on their own and even cleaned up their toys when they finished without being asked. It was amazing. They felt good about being independent and I was happy that they are learning to take ownership of their actions. I had a first on Saturday too. I mowed the lawn, more specifically the back yard. I can't remember the last time it had been mowed and Francis set out to tackle it Saturday morning. Knowing we wouldn't see him all day if left to do it alone, I pitched in a mowed while he edged, weed eated and trimmed. What would have taken him 6 or so hours took the both of us 3 1/2. I was exhausted but glad to have done my part. And the backyard looks SO much better. whew!

Perseverance has also been on the menu around here. We play Pokemon Go over here and they released some "ledgendary" Pokemon, but only for a short time starting in July. You have to go battle the pokemon with other people and then try to catch it. Even once you beat it, there is a very low chance you will catch it. Well, after a month of going out nearly every night, Francis, the boys and I all have all 4 that are out. It was hard  for the kids (and me!) at times to understand why we were the unlucky ones not to catch whichever one, but it made when we did that much better. Robert and Hannah now have a great rock collection from all the places and playgrounds we have been visiting. It was a good time as a family, but I am glad for a respite!

Tuesday was Classical Conversations Orientation. I got to meet my kiddos and work out a few of my nerves. I'm excited for this Tuesday when we get to kick off with week one! I've been practicing with my kids this week in hopes it will run smooth on Tuesday. We'll see!

This Saturday is supposed to be the boys' birthday party. The weather is supposed to get dicey with the storm Harvey coming through, but I'm praying hard that it will hold off until the party-ing is over. William is particularly worried that no one will come if it is raining. Please pray it all works out.

Till next time!

August 15, 2017

We have 6 year old over here! It was a whirlwind week last week. Mostly it involved getting ready for Classical Conversations training and then having training. I'm feeling more ready every day. I made my tri fold board where all of my writing/tutor information goes. That in itself is a weight off of my shoulders. Orientation is next Tuesday, so we are getting close!

Friday William woke up to a house decorated in Pokemon and got to open his present from Francis and myself. He was so ready all week to be 6 and his face Friday morning was pure excitement. He got both sides of a fabric Pokemon card board as well as a few Pokemon cards, card protectors, and a figurine. He had since gotten to try out the board and it meets with his approval (the old paper board was tearing). The kids and I went to try out the new trampoline park. I thought we would only be there an hour, but all the kids qualified for "toddler time" so 3 hours actually ended up being much cheaper than one. And the kids played all 3 hours (I was one tired momma). they jumped in foam pits, did the trapeze, played dodge ball, climbed the rock wall, played basketball, did the battle on the balance beam and jumped a little on the trampolines too. It was a blast! Afterward, William picked out his cake and ice cream from Walmart and we headed home. The afternoon was quiet but ended with a couple episodes of...you guessed it...Pokemon. William chose Olive Garden for dinner and then we did a few Pokemon battles at local parks where William caught his first Legendary Pokemon. He was very excited and so were we. We went home, had cake and sang and hit the hay. My favorite part of the day, though, was all the phone calls from all of our family to wish him a happy birthday. We got calls/videos/facetimes from Sweetie, Papa, Christian and the twins, Nana, Grandad, Kevin and Danielle, and Cyndy and Abby. It just reminded me how lucky I am to have such a wonderful family who loves William so much. Thanks everyone. And a very happy birthday to William!

Saturday, Nana and Grandad came through town on their way to Houston. We got to have lunch with them and do a little shopping. It was fun to see them and the kids especially liked the ice cream at the mall just before they left. i wish we lived closer to family, but having them come through town is always a treat! We are back in our regular Sunday school classes on Sundays (meaning summer series is over), and it's nice to see everyone again. Not sure why I mentioned it except it is just one more signal that summer is coming to a close. Each season is sweet for it's own reason and I am sure fall will be great, but this summer has been amazing. I will hold onto it as long as it will let me.

Hannah and Robert are also doing well. Hannah is so active and talking up a storm about anything and everything. I have three kids who love to communicate. It's wonderful, but I have a hard time keeping up sometimes! I get why my mother had the "one at a time" system for my sisters and me growing up. It's fun though to hear all of their thoughts. Robert has a particularly vivid imagination. His "what ifs" are delightfully confusing as I have no idea where he comes up with this stuff. I am so thankful for his creativity. Hannah has started skipping naps all together and crashing about 6:30pm. We are having to figure out a new normal around this schedule, but so far it hasn't been too bad. I do miss my cuddle time though! They all still hug me all the time though, so I'm not too bad off.

Angel and her boys Ranger and Asher are headed this way, and I still have a couple things to do. Till next time!

August 3, 2017

Monday last was Hannah's 2nd birthday! She chose to go to the Children's Museum where I'm happy to say they have added a few new exhibits. I went ahead and got a membership again and we've already returned once. Hannah chose Cracker Barrel for her birthday dinner and loved both it and her cake that evening. Overall it was a great day. Hannah is getting good at making sentences. She is running, jumping and climbing to keep up with her brothers. She loves her baby dolls and helping me out. She eats almost anything put in front of her at least once. She loves loves loves her mommy, daddy and bruh bruhs (brotehrs). And we love her too! Happy Birthday baby girl!

Last Tuesday we had our last Bible Study for the summer and promptly headed off to Dallas to begins a whirlwind trip to Canada. The kids and I arrived at Christian's house mid-afternoon so the cousins could play. We celebrated at Christian's birthday dinner before heading to my in-laws' house for the night. The next morning the kids, my in-laws and I piled into the car to head to the airport. We flew to New York city and then drove to Montreal. We arrived around 2 am Thursday. The next morning (or the same one technically), we went over to see Nana Phillips and veiw all the wedding preparations for Daniel (Francis's cousin) and Syd's wedding. The wedding was to be held at Aunt Melo and Uncle Vic's house. They had a tent set up and things were moving along as we went to lunch at St. Huberts. Cyndy, Chris, Abby, and Nana Phillips joined our merry crew for lunch, and the laughter did my heart good. The afternoon was spent with those who could helping set up for the wedding, and the kids mostly playing all the games (pinball, table hockey, fooseball, etc) in the basement. That evening we had dinner down by a lock, and apart from a rainstorm, the weather was beautiful.

Friday the Boergers, my in-laws, the kids and I went to old town Montreal. Cyndy, Chris, Abby and William did varying levels of an obstacle course on a huge pirate ship while Robert and Hannah rode rides, played on inflatables and rode a little train down the pier. We had lunch from food carts where we made friends with strangers who also happen to be from Texas. It was then we learned Hannah has changed her name to Ariel (they asked and she responded), and has told everyone her name is Ariel ever since. We also visited Notre Dame (well, those of us awake who were in the mood), and then headed back to the hotel for a short respite. Francis arrived from the airport just in time for us to attend the rehearsal dinner back at Aunt Melo and Uncle Vic's house. It was such a fun evening. Daniel and Syd are such a friendly couple and the bride made a special effort to get to know us and the kids even though she hadn't met us before.

Saturday was wedding day! The Boergers, Nana Phillips, my in-laws and the 5 of us had breakfast at an old haunt, and the food was delicious. We went shopping and grabbed a quick lunch of poutine before heading to Aunt Melo and Uncle Vic's to get changed for the ceremony. The ceremony was in the back yard, and it was just perfect. The bride and groom had eyes for no one else and the love was palpable. the reception commenced also in the backyard after a break and included a delicious meal, games, dancing and fellowship. I met so many wonderful people in the extended "family" (related but not related to me). The kids had a blast with all of the lawn games and the party lasted from mid afternoon until well into the evening. We said goodbye to the happy couple with handfuls of confetti and then climbed in the car to return to the hotel. It was hard to say goodbye to everyone when we left, but the day could not have been sweeter.

Sunday morning we made the long drive to NYC, then took the plane to Dallas and finally landed at my in-law's house around 10pm. Francis flew to Houston from Montreal (lucky duck!) and made it to his meeting at school with 10 minutes to spare. The kids and I drove home Monday morning and although I was happy to be home, Hannah would not get out of the car. She was so happy to be travelling she didn't want to stop. This kid has come a long way from the child who screamed bloody murder every time she even saw the car seat or car. I guess family is worth driving for.

Tuesday morning the kids and I attended the Dough Show at the library that is put on each year but Dominoes Pizza. The kids loved the dough throwing (they throw it into the audience for the kids to play with), and really loved eating the pizza provided at the end. Tuesday evening I had my meeting  with the other tutors and director of my CC campus this year. I got my class list (it's a good one!) and received my classroom supplies. I am still overwhelmed at the prospect of bring back in the classroom, but I'm hoping I will find my rhythm quickly. I have William and Robert both in my class and the boys are so excited to be together and with me. I'm pretty happy about it to. I have 5 boys and 3 girls this year. I pray that I will bless them and their mommas in their homeschool journeys this year. Tiffany (William's tutor from last year) sure blessed me.

Wednesday Hannah had her two year check up. She is leveling off on height to be just above average at just over 34 inches and she's still light in the weight department. She's healthy as can be and didn't even react when they gave her the shot at the the end. I'm loving seeing how she is growing and changing as she goes through the phases of toddlerhood. Keep growing, sweetie!
Wednesday was also Francis and my 9th wedding anniversary. We actually remembered and exchanged gifts for the first time in 9 years. Francis read that 9 years is the "willow" anniversary, so he got me a Willowtree figurine. Very sweet. We went out with the kids to have Mongolian BBQ for dinner, and then had pop corn, sodas, candy and a Redbox movie after the kid were in bed. Francis finally got to watch Hidden Figures and really enjoyed it. good times. I love you, Francis. 9 years is just the beginning!

Yesterday was our second trip to the Children's Museum and today we made it to play group (yay!). We have two trips to Adamson Lagoon scheduled for this weekend so it promises to include a lot of swimming (and hopefully kiddos that sleep well at night!). Till next time!

July 23, 2017

We have air conditioning!!! As of Thursday we have air conditioning. It was a rough 12 (12 is you count the first Saturday) days of heat, but we made it. I had to struggle a bit here and there to finally get the unit delivered (someone had their wires crossed), but that is quickly becoming only a memory. whew!

We found all sorts of ways to stay out of the house. Monday was grocery day. Last Tuesday we had Bible Study and Wednesday we went for a pool play date at the Browers' house. Thursday was the big day, and it was was even bigger for William. Robert and Hannah went to Preschool fun days at church where they had a blast. William got to go to Summer Fun days with the Children's Ministry. They went to Grand Station for 3 hours where they had unlimited laser tag, bumper cars, bowling, mini golf and a $5 game card. They also had pizza for lunch. Now, William has been fantasizing about this day all summer and talking about his expectations when we pass it on the highway at least once every couple of days. He had built it up so much and I prayed all morning that it wouldn't disappoint. After I picked him up I asked him on our way home, "Was it everything you dreamed it would be?" Without hesitation he said, "Mom, it was even better." I teared up a bit and thanked God. After meditation on his words for a moment I couldn't help but think I will have a similar response when I see heaven. "Father, it is even better" than I could ever have imagined. I love it when my kids make me think, even if they don't know that they do.

Friday we claimed our summer reading prize at the library, picked out activity books at Walmart, and generally started preparing for our international trip this coming week. The kids and I are spending much of the week in Canada and Francis will join us on the weekend for his cousin Daniel's wedding. We are all super excited. My in-laws, the kids and I are flying into NYC and driving to Montreal(about 5 hours) so between the plane ride and the drive, we are going to need plenty of things to entertain ourselves (hence the activity books). I'm sure it will all go fine.

That's all for now!

July 15, 2017

It's been a crazy two weeks. Friday two weeks ago the five of us headed to Dallas. Saturday was a big day. In the morning we had Hanna's second birthday party with all of the family even including my grandfather Japapa and my sweet friend Ashley. All the cousins had so much fun and especially enjoyed the pinata. Hannah got a bunch of princess things (which was the theme of her party so it seems only fair). She also got some things for her baby doll. The cake was so cute and castle themed. All in all it was a spectacular morning, and Hannah loved it all. After lunch together, the Noble clan (my parents, sister and their families) all packed up and went to my parents' house for family photos. The weather was slightly wet, but the pictures came out pretty cute! After pictures, we met the Phillips clan (Francis's parents, Cyndy,Chris and Abby) at On the Border to celebrate my beautiful mother-in-law's birthday. the conversation was lovely and the company top notch. We rounded off the day swimming back at my in-law's. Who could ask for more?

Sunday the five of us went to Prestonwood for church before Francis left for Houston to begin his journey to Greece. Why was Francis going to Greece? He had an aerospace class in Thessiloniki! It was a great trip and he learned a lot and got to experience the Greek culture which I love so much. The kids and I stayed in Dallas. We played Mario cart, swam and enjoyed time with Nana and Grandad. It wasn't Greece, but it was tons of fun!

Monday the kids and I went out to Stonebriar Mall. We saw Cars 3 with my mom, sisters, Kevin and the twins. It was a good movie! We ate lunch and shopped. By the time we were done I didn't want to head back to the house so I drove around for a bit while the two younger kiddos napped. That evening we got to go to Hawaiian Falls water park with my parents Danielle and Kevin. It was so fun that the kids did not want to leave when they closed. You can bet the kids slept well that night.

Tuesday was the 4th of July. We got up early and headed to our "spot" to watch the parade. Our crew consisted of the entire Noble clan (minus Francis), my in-laws and Danielle's friend Erin. The kids got so much candy, you'd have thought it was Halloween. The parade was delightful and a great reminder of how diverse our country is. After the parade we all headed back to my parents for swimming and BBQ lunch. We were joined by some of Danielle's friends as well as Brandon and Bethany Nine. It was great to catch up with them! There was also a snowball fight, which was enjoyed by kids and adults alike. We rounded of the day with the same group of people as we began and all headed to the Collin College campus to have dinner and watch the fireworks. My kids and the twins are the best of friends and running around that evening was no exception. The "lightsaber" battles and hugs were epic (and super cute).

Wednesday was Danielle's birthday. My sisters, mother, the twins, Kevin, the kids and I all had a birthday breakfast at the International Pancake House. It was delicious and then we all went back to Sweetie's house to play. Lunch was the ever popular Chick-fil-a where Hannah and Alexandra developed a rousing game of open the door/shut the door/laugh like crazy. Fun was had by all. That evening Danielle selected Olive Garden for her meal of choice, much to my kids delight. We finished the evening with some swimming

Thursday my mom, Christian, the twins, the kids and I went to a playground inside a bowling alley at the mall. That may not sound like much, but it was an amazing playground with thing that spun, little rides, a bounce house, a huge obstacle course and so much more. We all had a great time and the playground looked just like so many I saw in Korea, which provided an extra treat. Danielle eventually joined us and we had lunch at the mall and played some of the video games in the bowling alley before leaving. That evening, the kids and I had dinner with Nana and Grandad at their favorite Greek restaurant. The kids liked that they were eating some of the same food ate Francis. On the way out though, I bent to put Hannah in the car and threw out my back. I am still hurting from it, but at that point it was so frozen that when I arrived at my parents' house I collapsed on the floor unable to got up for a long time. With medication and time I was eventually able to get around, and I'm hoping soon I'll be fine.

Friday my mom, the kids and I went shopping in the morning. we then stopped by the splash pad in the shopping center and let the kids run off energy. It was a pretty lazy day, which I needed. We all met (the Noble Clan minus Francis) to celebrate Danielle's birthday at Texas Roadhouse. Everyone ate and was merry. My dad took my kids back to the house to babysit while my mom, Danielle, Kevin and I went and saw Wonder Woman. We got home late and the kids were still up, but everyone was happy and in one piece so I think operation babysit was indeed a success.

Saturday after some time with the family, the kids and I headed home. It was a great trip. Our trip home was smooth, but our arrival left much to be desired. When I opened the door to our house, I knew something was wrong. It was 82 inside instead of 77. The A/C was on and running but no air was coming out of the vents. I shut everything off. After a frustrating couple of hours, I unpacked the car, got a hold of our warranty and made an appointment, got a portable A/c unit to at least cool our living room and fed the kids chick-fil-a. A neighbor helped me install the unit and then Audery came over to bring me an extra fan. Everyone was so kind. It was a hot night, but all of a sudden a storm came through bringing the outside temperature from 100 to 72 degrees in 15 minutes. Thank you God. We were able to open all the doors and window and listen to the soft rain storm while the house cooled off. Monday we went about our business and tried not to open the doors too much. Not being able to vacuum is driving me nuts and I can't really blow dry my hair either. I also can't cook. I tried on Monday and it heated up the house really quick. Monday evening amazing in-laws brought a second window unit to put in my bedroom (thank you so much!) and so now the boys are able to sleep in the living room and I am in my bedroom with Hannah. Everyone is happier this way.

Tuesday we had Summer Bible study and Wednesday we went to the library before the repairman arrived. Sadly, he was unable to fix the unit. It was beyond repair. This comes as no shock to me as they've replaced so many parts on it in the short time we've been here and nothing seems to have helped. Good news, we are getting a new A/C unit! We just have to wait for it to come in. Hopefully it will arrive and be installed next week. Wednesday evening the kids struggled to stay awake until Francis arrived, but didn't make it. That meant I got to have Francis all to myself to talk and catch up when he arrived. It was nice to have him home, hear about his trip and tell him all that's been going on here. Thursday morning, the kids were thrilled to find that Daddy was home! Hugs and kisses all around. William had a trip to Franklin Safari that morning and Robert and Hannah had Preschool Fun Days at church, which meant Francis and I were kid-less all morning. It was weird, but good. Francis was able to recover some of his jet lag and we went on a delightful lunch date before picking up the kids. The afternoon and evening were spent with some quality daddy time. It warms my heart to see how much the kids missed their daddy. They didn't say they missed him while he was gone(because there was so much going on), but they are SO glad to have him back. I am too.

Friday we went to playgroup and had family movie night at church. We didn't end up staying for the whole movie, but we enjoyed the pizza and friends very much.

Today we've been running errands and are now settled down while a thunderstorm has rolled in. The air outside is only 75 at the moment which means our house can be opened up for a bit to cool off from the 107 heat index of only an hour ago. I am thankful God keeps sending us these momentary breaks!

Overall we are doing well. School continues on but William is starting to be challenged more and is starting to like it less. I'm hoping this is only temporary and I've adjusted his workload to make it more summer friendly. Robert can't get enough schoolwork and begs for more even when he's done more than I had planned. Hannah marches to the beat of her own drum as she is entering the wonderful age of 2 very soon. She doesn't want to do something one minute and then begs to do it the next. With her ever increasing vocabulary, she is becoming very assertive in her desires, however fleeting those desires are at times. She's learning (as we all are) that you can't always get your way and that's ok. It suppose that's all for now!

June 29, 2017

It's been a blissfully uneventful week. We have been finishing our second week of swim lessons and all three kiddos did wonderfully! Each passed their particular class, and all learned so much about water safety and how to move in the water. William would like you to know he learned how to front float. He is very proud.

We've been keeping up with school and taking our evening family walks (when the weather permits), so we are not bored. Tomorrow starts another grand adventure, so I am thankful for the quiet times to regroup and relax.

William is devouring entire novels in a day now without breaking a sweat. Robert is writing his name with ease and is starting to connect letters with their sounds pretty consistently. He really wants to read like William, but I have to remind him to be patient. Hannah is learning more things than I could ever write here about life, how to share, and how she can be a good "mommy" to her baby dolls (mostly by putting them away after she is done playing).

I have two little boys who have commentary for every sentence I type, so this entry is short. Till next time!

June 22, 2017

Happy belated Father's day! It was a good Father's Day weekend around here. We did some necessary things that were nagging on our to do list. I made lasagna (Francis's favorite!), we ate out at Rudy's and Red Lobster, and the kids loved on their daddy oh so much. We got him some Pokemon cards (so now he can actually beat William), a special lunch box (it's more exciting than it sounds), special handmade pictures and a homemade cake. The kids were especially excited to make and decorate the cake. And we all ate it; it was delicious. While it was a quiet and relatively uneventful weekend, I think it was markedly special for exactly that reason. Life around here can be nuts, so a relaxing weekend is a treat.

We've been swimming this week! Swim lessons are in full swing around here. We finished our first week this morning and have one more to go. The boys are having a blast in their own respective classes, and Hannah and I are doing the parent/child class. I have 3 little fish to be sure. The boys finish their lessons and want to tell me everything they've learned. Hannah knows the routine now and motions for what's next before the teacher does. She's a quick study, my girl. We are having a  blast! Lessons aren't until 11 so we've been able to get do do stuff around the house or go out (like to the library) beforehand. It's been good even though I was worried as that is usually our lunch time. Oh! I was still able to go to Bible Study on Tuesday because Francis took the kids to lessons and I got the kids from him afterward. He's a keeper! All in all a good week.

Hannah is a little mother these days. She helps the boys pick up their toys, hands them things they are looking for, tries to get them to take naps (this one in particular cracks me up as she is not a nap-taker herself), "cooks for them" and even tries to feed them. The boys humor her, and Hannah feels very proud of herself for being so helpful. She still loves her baby dolls, princess dresses and playing with Pokemon, so life for her is pretty good. She is loving swimming and kicks and moves her arms better than many of the older kids in her class. I love this girl!

Robert is growing in so many ways. His appetite has grown enormously over the past week and a half, so I'm thinking a growth spurt is coming shortly. He is also getting much better at writing his name (he even does the "obert" part in lowercase letters). The other day he randomly wrote all the numbers from one to ten and brought them to me. He also can put all of the letters in alphabetical order. We are currently working on letter sounds, and although he has trouble making a few of them, he can still recognize them. Swim lessons have been wearing him out so he's been napping this week. As a result of a 3 hour nap yesterday, I decided to take him with me on a quick trip yesterday evening. He was so excited to go by himself with just me. He had a smile permanently plastered on his face. We had to stop for gas on the way, and Robert asked if he could put the gas in the car. He's never done it before and since no one else was in the car, I obliged. I told him all the steps, and with close monitoring he was successful at filling up the van. He was so proud! We then went on to Target to pick up an online order. Everyone there told him how cute he was and the cashier gave him a special sticker. I teared up seeing what a good time he was having with such simple tasks. As a surprise on the way home we picked up Bahama Bucks for Francis and myself. I asked for an extra empty cup. I fully intended to share my shaved ice with Robert on the way home. Sensing what I was doing, the girl gave me a cup with three umbrellas and a spoon, which made Robert jump for joy (normally you get one umbrella at most)! He ate all that I gave him and came home looking like the cat that ate the canary. It was so fun to spend some one on one time with him. He's super fun to be around.

William is a reader. Two weeks in a row he has read an entire Hank the Cowdog Novel in less than 48 hours. Between yesterday at 1pm and today at 1pm, he read a 250 page Hank the Cowdog novel (it was a special one and twice as long as a normal one). I have no idea how late he was up last night reading, but he's hooked on books. His mom and dad (and many other members of his extended family) all love reading so he comes by it honestly. I just didn't think that he'd be devouring novels before the age of 6. I love the hunger for knowledge that all my kids have. I pray they never lose it. William is also learning how to front float and dive in swim lessons. I will be interested to see how he uses these skill next time we go to Dallas. He was already swimming like a fish, and I'm hoping he'll learn to tread water soon too.

One last thing. I saw a child I used to teach today. I had him when he was 3/4 years old. He's now going into 6th grade. I'm getting old! I suppose that's it for now. Till next time!

June 15, 2017

Whew! It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks.

Saturday before last I left CC training to head to Dallas for Danielle's bachelorette party. After a harrowing trip (involving a very scary freak storm) I made it to Medieval Times where my in-laws picked up my kids. Everyone in the group dressed for the occasion, including me. We had front row seats which I've never done before. It turns out the people in the show will interact with you from that distance, so Christian  sassed back and forth with the knights and we got more than one smile or nod from the actors thanks to our authentic dress. Danielle was knighted after the show and we all got commemorative pictures. We then went back to Sierra's house after the show for a night of ice cream, facials, junk food, card games and chick flicks. It was a good time. I still managed to get up, eat, pick up my kids and get them to church on time the next morning (thanks in large part to my awesome Mother-in-law)! We stayed with my in-laws all week and they were such great hosts. I really hit the jackpot with them!

The boys did Vacation Bible School at Prestonwood last week (my home church growing up). The theme was about Noah and they both had a blast. This meant that Hannah and I could get dresses for the bridesmaids' luncheon and rehearsal, get my bridesmaid dress altered and run a myriad of errands while still getting to hang out with my sisters, mother and my twin niece and nephew. The kids had a particularly great time together. I think they will have years of fun and laughter ahead of them. Thursday evening I had to go to the airport to pick up my friend Erin at dinner time. Christian (who lives by the airport) graciously watched my kids while I went to get Erin and when we returned we all had dinner together. All this family time does make me wish I lived closer to my family. It does my heart good. So I stayed up late Thursday talking to Erin while Francis was at the Bachelor party and the kids slept. Friday morning I dropped off the boys at the last day of VBS and took Hannah back home to Francis. He and Erin watched Hannah and the twins (and eventually the boys also) as Christian and I went to the Bridemaid's luncheon and manicure/pedicure date. Everything went pretty smoothly and we were able to love, pray for and pamper Danielle as any bride deserves. That evening we all made it over to the church for the rehearsal and then the rehearsal dinner. As many of us were pros (includeing two of us having been married in that chapel), the rehearsal was very smooth. The coordinator even remarked how "seasoned" we were to do so well. The dinner afterwards was at Lucas community center and was a special time with good food.

Saturday morning came all too quickly. Erin and I headed over to Danielle's house so I could get my hair and make-up done. Francis had to get a different pair of pant for William's tuxedo as we discovered they did not fit. It was quite an ordeal, but they made it to the church before the wedding, so it all worked out. I got amazing hair and make-up. Everyone else looked beautiful also, but Danielle was a vision to be sure. There was no outshining her even if we tried. Before we knew it, we were at the church, getting dressed, lining up and ready to go. Kevin and Danielle were so enchanting, that I was unable to take my eyes off of them pretty much the entire ceremony. I have very little idea who else was there, because they were just....just perfect. I will never forget Kevin's face as he turned to face the preacher after receiving Danielle's hand from my father. I caught his eye for a split second and I could almost see what we will look like as we enter heaven. I teared up (as I always do) and spent the rest of the ceremony fighting back happy tears. And they were so happy. The reception was equally joyful. I got to spend time with good friends, family and just bask in the love that permeated the room. I'm so thankful for those moments.

We made it home after church on Sunday. Since then we have been working on getting back into a routine. We are also getting ready for Father's day. The kids made special pictures for Francis today and they are going to wrap his presents in a moment. I thought this would be our quiet week, but we've been busy every day. Today we went to dollar movie days and saw the Lego Batman Movie. Everyone sat through it beautifully and it was fun. We've reached a new stage now that our kids can sit through movies. It may not seem like much, but it's the little things that make you realize that your kids are growing up!

Till next time!

June 1, 2017

I'm going to have to make this short. I have homework to do....but I'll get to that in a minute.

School is going well. William and Robert are continuing on their insatiable quest for knowledge. I love it even though it constantly challenges me to keep up with them. Hannah continues to be a cuddle bug and it learning through exploration and her own toddler know-how.

Last weekend was Memorial day and we were able to go with all of Francis' family to Sea World. We got a day and a half at Aquatica (the water park) and a full day at Sea World proper. The kids rode more rides than I can count. William and Robert loved the Shamu roller coaster the best (riding it 10 times before the park even officially opened), and Hannah loved the carousel. The kids also had great fun with their cousin Abby, Aunt Cyndy, Uncle Chris, Nana and Grandad. It was a seriously great trip.

Today was the beginning of Parent Practicum for Classical Conversations. I am going to be a tutor next year, so I got to do my first tutor training. I felt like I was drowning the first day of practicum last year, and this year also felt like a firehouse of information. After some time to reflect, I'm sure I will feel more in control, but I won't get that time for a while. It was an all day affair and I barely got home in time to make dinner. The kids got to go to play camp and the nursery (which were both down the hall from me) and we all ate lunch together. I love that they are learning while I am learning. I also love that they see I am learning too. It's important for them to know learning is a lifelong process. I'm excited to see what I will learn tomorrow and Saturday!

Anyway, after my first day of training I have homework for tomorrow. I better get on it. Things are ramping up around here. We (the kids and I) leave after training on Saturday for Dallas to begin the week long festivities that are Danielle's wedding. She will be married in 10 short days and I'm so excited!

Till next time!

May 26, 2017

Last week, we had the pleasure of going and hearing Hank the Cowdog author John R. Erickson speak and sing at the George Bush Library museum. We have been reading Hank the Cowdog books these past couple of weeks in preparation. He sang a song called Chickens (which the kids are still singing), read from his newest book and answered kids' questions. While that was delightful enough, after the show he came out and specifically spoke to homeschoolers (after the school groups left), answered our kids' questions, signed books and posed for pictures. He didn't have to, but our kids all loved it. Such a special time and memory. Thanks to this time, William has started to read these chapter books on his own. Mostly he lets us read it to him, but sometimes he gets impatient and reads on his own. He's growing up so fast!

Speaking of special memories, Saturday was a big day. We went to a castle nearby. A man has been building his very own castle in Belleville for the past 20 years and gives tours on the weekends. He has a moat, trebuchet, dungeon, chapel, bell tower, banquet hall and so much more. He lives there with his wife and was quite pleased with his work. I would be too! He gave some medieval history and helped the kids put on a faux battle to siege the castle and reap the spoils of war (cookies and sandwiches). Fun was had by all. We went with the Brower family and after the tour, we went with them to see Dave's mom at The Austin County Jailhouse Museum. They were having an open house. If the kids had any thought of ever ending up in jail, seeing this old jailhouse put them on the straight and narrow. the cells were a little scary (they dated back to the old west), but the overall museum was fascinating. It was fun an educational day. Who could ask for more?!

This week we started PreK4 and First Grade. We got in all our curriculum last week, and after the kids blew through all their summer stuff, they begged me to start. William has already completed 2 weeks of 2nd grade Math (honestly he already know most of it), and had completed his first full weeks of First grade curriculum. Robert is doing great too having flown through his letter writing book and working diligently on his (Kindergarten) math. Hannah has a workbook too that she likes to work on (read color in) while her brothers work. I figure with me teaching CC on Tuesdays, we may want to not do any other school on those days. This could be an extra blessing when we get to the fall.

We are doing well over here. Our summer is packed full, and the fun has already started. We've already been to two CC summer play dates, and most every day has some activity we can attend if we choose. While we won't do everything, it's nice to have options. Happy Summer!!!

May 16, 2017

It's been a quiet couple of weeks. We were sick for a week and didn't venture out except for necessities. The first real trip out we made was to Dallas that Saturday to go to Danielle's family shower. She got many wonderful wedding gifts and it was a wonderful time with family. Robert, who had been missing Japapa, got a special treat as he was there. Everything was beautiful thanks to my Aunt Bup and all in all it was a successful day trip!

Sunday was the AWANAS ceremony. Robert finished his first year as a cubbie and William finished his first year and first book as a spark. Both got awards and we were served lunch after the ceremony. I am so happy with how many scriptures they learned this year and how much they are holding them close to their hearts and minds. I hope these seeds will continue to grow today and always.

So, my kids couldn't take this whole "no school" thing. They officially made it a week and a half (one of those weeks being at Disney World) before begging me to get them more schoolwork. I bought them more stuff, and they've already devoured most of it. I wake up and they are already doing their work some mornings. Crazy kids! I actually went to the Community Homeschool Center for their curriculum sale today so I could get more stuff for cheap. I'm hoping the mountain of books I bought will last Robert through the year (probably not) and William at least until his new curriculum for first grade arrives.

Sunday was Mother's Day. To kick off the weekend, I was able to attend Mother-Son Date "knight" at our local Chick-fil-a. It was a fun night with my boys. They had a questionnaire where I asked them questions about me. The most surprising answers I got were to, "If mom had more time she would"... Robert said "write!" and William said, "read your Bible". My kids know me better than I thought! They had some funny answers too. The knight had crafts, balloon animals, music, and more. I'm thankful I was able to go. Sunday the kids did all they could to make it a good day. They had picked out special gifts (mostly chocolate and candy), gotten me breakfast and picked out flowers. It was nice to see them thinking of me so selflessly. I can see budding in them hearts to serve, and that filled me with joy.

Yesterday we went and renewed William and Francis's passports. Francis's cousin got engaged so we get the special suprise and pleasure of going to Canada in July. As Francis and William both had passports about to expire, this was an important step in our journey. The kids can't wait to see all of the crew from Canada again. I'm excited too!

Hannah is talking more all the time. She calls her brothers' names when she wants their attention. She can answer most any reasonable question accurately. She wants to pray at dinner time, and has "chats"  with me where pretty much none of the words are real, but she's very enthusiastic. She is doing great with potty training and only has an occasional accident when I forget to ask her if she needs to go. As she's only 21 months, I'll take it. She loves her baby dolls and carries them around or pushes them in the stroller most of the time. It's super cute. She's also getting pretty goo at sharing. As long as we tell her how long her turn is and count down at the end, she willingly hands over the toy 99% of the time. She is also good at waiting her turn. With three kiddos around, everyone has to wait sometime!

Robert has shocked me with how good he is at math. I bought a kindergarten math book for him to do this summer thinking we would do it together, but he's finished it basically working by himself in less than a week. I learned he can write all his numbers, consistently count one to one correspondence, add 1 and subtract 1, and do so many other things. He also can recognize and write most if not all of his letters. Not bad for a 3 year old! He and William will be in my class for CC next year (I'm teaching, whew!). I'm excited to see what this next year will hold.

I bought a first grade math skills book for William to do (he did kindergarten last year, but first grade math) thinking he could fill in any skills he might have missed. He also finished it in a week (instead of all summer), and taught himself 2 digit addition and subtraction in the process. It was only supposed to be an intro to it, but he ran with it an is applying it to his life (mainly with adding an subtracting different pokemon's HP). He has also decided with his upcoming trip that he is going to learn French. He's been working hard these past few days, and is making some progress, much to Francis's delight. I do hope his enthusiasm holds. If he will learn then maybe I can practice with him instead of Francis who had a silly grin whenever I try! William has also started learning cursive. He's way better at it than he's ever been at print and likes it way more. We will try to do his work in cursive next year to see if it makes it less of a struggle. Wish me luck!

May 7, 2017

So, two weeks ago I was unable to post because I was on vacation at Disney World! That's right. It was an amazing trip with the kids, Francis and my mother-in-law. We arrived on Saturday mid afternoon, unloaded our luggage into our rooms and went straight to Magic Kingdom. The firs ride we rode? Uh, Buzz Lightyear, duh! It is William's all time favorite and quickly became Robert's too. Although Robert was hesitant at first when he saw a picture of Zurg (the bad guy) on the way up to the ride, he quickly realized that it was a game shooting at targets so he need not be afraid. Over the next week I lost count of how many times we rode it. It was a hit to be sure. We also took William on Space Mountain. He said he wasn't scared, but that it was really intense. We watched the fireworks that night from far off, and made sure we rode the carousel at least once before it closed for renovations that week. I think that was one of Hannah's favorite rides, though she seemed to love it all! Sunday we explored Hollywood Studios, riding Toy Story Mania twice in a row (the boys' second favorite), meeting Buzz and Woody, going to a Frozen Sing along, and meeting all sorts of
Star Wars characters. William got to ride the Star Tours ride, and also got to fight Darth Vader in Jedi Training. We rooted him on in his quest to use the Force. We had dinner at Hollywood and Vine, which meant we got to meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Daisy. Much to my relief and enjoyment, the kids were all super excited. I have an adorable picture of Hannah with Daisy. The highlight of that day was the show that evening: Fantasmic! It is still my favorite show and it did not disappoint.

Monday we went to Epcot. Everyone but Hannah was able to ride Soarin' (my favorite ride), and William found he loved Mission: Space, especially the games at the end. Hannah and Robert loved the Nemo ride, and we found ourselves riding it over again. I was excited to take the kids on the Frozen ride and it was all I hoped for. The boys loved visiting Japan because it had Pokemon (shocker), but it was nice to hear William know where the countries were actually located on the globe. After the Spaceship Earth ride (where they go through the history of the world), William said he knew all the events already. I call that a homeschool win. I was one proud momma. We ate at Coral Reef for dinner and celebrated Robert's "birthday" (each kids got to pick a day and restraunt to celebrate), and a happier kid you would have been hard pressed to find. The show that night was, well, it wasn't my favorite, but the day itself was very enjoyable. Tuesday we had breakfast at Chef Mickey (where we met Mickey and the gang once again) followed by a day at Animal Kingdom. We picked up the Wilderness explorers guide for the boys on a whim thinking we might do one or two stops. Miraculously (and with a little effort), by the end of the day we had finished and the boys were official Wilderness Explorers! Robert surprised us by being the adventurous one and riding the water rapids twice and having a blast. We also had fun on the Safari in the middle of the day, and saw animals throughout our wanderings. The show that evening, Rivers of Light, was exactly that, a beautiful visually amazing display. It's a new show and I'm so glad we had Fast Passes. It made our seats amazing without all the waiting. In fact, Fast Passes saved us from waiting most of the time. Whoever invented them is in line to be one of my new best friends, haha.

Wednesday we were back at Magic Kingdom for the whole day. We rode so many rides thanks to Fast Passes (5 in one hour alone), and made the most of our last day with Nana (Francis's mom). It was so fun having her around and I'd take her with me anywhere in a heartbeat. We had lunch at Belle's Castle and dinner at the Diamond Horseshoe to celebrate William's "birthday". He loved the S'mores dessert. We had a great spot for the fireworks that evening, and the display only mirrored the happiness in my heart. Family and fun, who could ask for more? Thursday morning Nana left early and the 5 of us headed to Hollywood Studios to finish the few things we hadn't done. After riding Toy Story mania 3 times in less than an hour (and me getting slightly motion sick), we headed over and met Chewbacca and BB8. The star wars area and all its memorabilia were impressive and the kids  spent quite a while examining it all. We then rode the last couple unridden rides, had lunch and watched the Star Wars show. When Kylo Ren and Darth Vader came on stage, the boys used the "force" to try to get rid of them. It was kind of adorable. After the show we went over to Magic Kingdom for more rides and dinner at Belle's Castle. We even got a picture with the Beast! We went home "early" that evening to take a swim. It was a good day though, we were tired by the end.

Our night that night did not go as planned. Robert threw up first at around 1 O'Clock. He didn't even really wake up, and the hotel brought us new sheets and took away the old. William woke up a short time later and threw up in the toilet. By morning, Robert was feeling better, and William was on the mend. After no one had thrown up for a while, we all headed to EPCOT because the boys had to use their money to buy Pokemon in Japan. As soon as we got their, Francis was all but green. He headed home, leaving me with three kids and and entire park to walk across. I was able to get to Japan, the boys bought their toys/cards, and I even managed to let them two two different activities. Whew. I got all three kids over to Magic Kingdom (which involved 2 monorail trips), and a refreshed Francis was able to meet us at Buzz Lightyear. We then had dinner at Cinderella's Castle where we celebrated Hannah's "birthday". We got to meet 5 princesses: Cinderella, Aurora, Jasmine, Snow White and Ariel. Hannah was in high Heaven, and the boys had a good time to. Robert especially loved giving the Princess's hugs. It was stinkin' cute. The food was spectacular and they gave out swords and wands to the kids. It was my favorite meal. We rode as many rides as we could that evening, ending where we began at Buzz Lightyear. The kids were troopers. Saturday we shopped at Disney Springs before catching our plane back home. I could have stayed another week or three, but all good things must come to an end. One the plane I started to feel sick. I thought it was motion sickness again (I have become very sensitive and there was a lot of turbulence), but as soon as we exited the plane and I ran to the bathroom to throw up, I knew the kids' bug had hit me two. We drove home from the airport in Dallas (3 hours) with me clutching the airsick bag I had taken from the plane. I was so glad when we got home. It was an amazing trip, with a bang up ending, but I still wouldn't have traded it for anything. Fortunately it was only a 12 hour virus, so by Sunday mid-day I was able to eat and start regaining my strength.

The kids are already talking about next time they go to Disney (which they are aware is a long time off), so the trip must have been a success!

I'll update on our goings on from last week in another post.
Till next time!

April 20, 2017

It's been a delightfully quiet week (something I never get to say).

Last Thursday Francis, the kids and I headed up to Tyler for a long weekend of camping. The weather was p-e-r-f-e-c-t. Really and truly I could not have asked for more. The whole Noble clan was there including my sister, parents, the twins, Chad and Kevin. We relaxed, talked, canoed, played games, roasted marshmallows, and enjoyed the great outdoors. My parents rented an amazing motor home this year where we were allowed to use the restrooms and that made an amazing trip even better. the kids slept well in the tent. The services help us focus on Jesus and his sacrifice. I got to see old friends and love on a new baby. The egg hunt was a success and fun was had by all. To say I was content would have been the understatement of the year. Good memories.

This week I had an eye appointment on Monday, grocery store yesterday, and a much needed Walmart trip yesterday. We've been taking it easy now that school is not in session. Today was my last MOMS meeting ever. I'm sad that this time in my life has come to a close, but I am looking forward to the next chapter.

We are finished with kindergarten but per many moms suggestions, we are not going completely without school. This week we worked on money for a some minutes each day. It was fun and kept everyone's attention as they each did an activity at their level. We will keep on working on reading, writing and math, but through fun little activities in what I will affectionately call "school lite". We may miss a week here and there, but at least it should theoretically be easier to get back in the habit come the fall. We shall see!

We leave tomorrow for vacation. Disney World here we come. Please pray we are are healthy and can relax and have fun as a family.

Short and sweet. Till next time!

April 11, 2017

So much has happened these past three weeks. Time has gotten away from me.

Two weeks ago Francis was gone for the entire week at a conference in Portland. We survived, but not before I became deathly ill mid-way through with a cold. Thanks to the many that offered help, especially my mom who sent us Pizza from afar. Francis came back Thursday evening late, but in time for us to have a date night Friday. It was the last parent's night out. We had McCallister's ( I was still feeling sick and soup sounded good), and went and saw Beauty and the Beast. We made it back just in time to pick up the kids. We always seem to cut it close.

Last week was rough. Saturday was amazing. We went to Sherwood Forest Faire and had a nearly perfect day. The kids loved the jousting, and we talked about what life was like in the Middle ages. We even got a glimpse of Eleanor of Aquitaine as she passed. It was so fun and just what we needed as a family. Sunday morning I received word that my grandmother Jamama had died. On the heels of my Grandfather Pop dying in January, my emotions are still a bit raw. Not all the time, but it still hits me hard sometimes in strange ways. Well, Jamama dying, even after having been sick for over two years, still hit just as hard. I cried through church, went home and cried more. The kids and I headed to the funeral on Tuesday after school, and made it just before the viewing that evening. It was nice to see all my family including Japapa, my parents, sisters, niece and nephew, cousins, aunts, and uncles. We realized all the cousins and certainly not all of their kids had ever been together at once. We watched a slideshow of memories we had of Jamama, and loved on each other. The next day we all had lunch at Golden Corral (Jamama's favorite) and then headed on to the funeral. The room was packed to overflowing to the point that many of us went up to a balcony overlooking the room to be able to see. It was a happy funeral even though we were all sobbing, because we know she's home. there was so much laughter there...probably much more than can be resonably accounted for except we know she's home with the Father. We started late (per Jamama's never being on time) and the Kleenexes were plentiful just like they were in her lifetime. It was perfect. We got a group picture of the cousins, cousins and their kids and of the whole family (45 or so people). After the fact we noticed that most everyone wearing a color was wearing blue which was Jamama's favorite color.  Out at the gravesite all of the kids were reading about who served in which war. They were fascinated that these people had been through things in their timeline song from school. It was a teachable moment that we are all part of history. What matters is the legacy we leave behind. Jamama's was her love for us and for Jesus. We will miss you, Jamama.

We got back late Wednesday night and Thursday brought us two welcome visitors: Francis's father and Nana Phillips. God knew in His perfect timing that I needed a grandmother to love on after the loss of mine. The 24 hours she was visiting with us (all the way from Montreal) brought laugher, joy, fun and fellowship. The kids got to show off all they've been learning in school, and enjoyed hearing Nana Phillips's every word. We took a tour of Francis's lab while she was here. It's something I always enjoy. We were sad to see Nana Philips go (Hannah cried when she left), but we will hold on tightly to those memories. Saturday we did the Easter egg hunt at the George Buch Library. It was a bit of a mad house, but we were able to do the hunt and all the games as well as have fun doing it. Sunday was the Spring Carnival at church. The boys boy did the mechanical bull and Hannah hung out mostly in the bounce house. We haven't been sitting still much, I guess you could say!

Tuesday was the last day of Classical Conversations for the year. We did the egg drop from a ladder using all the devices the kids had made from rubber bands, popsicle sticks and kleenex. William and his partner's egg didn't crack! They made a "parachute trampoline" and it worked perfectly. Theirs was only 1 of 4 eggs to survive. It was great. It was also superhero day so we had a Super Girl, Batman and Iron Man attending school from the Phillips clan. Fun was had by all.

Today William finished his last Kindergarten lesson. I can hardly believe it! He is a kindergarten graduate. He is a great reader, can write, add, subtract, tell time, knows a ton about history, science, had memorized so much scripture, and so so much more. I'd write a novel describing all he (and I) have learned. I am humbled that God tasked me with this this year, and thankful as well. Knowing I had a part in his learning is a special experience. I can't wait to see what is in store next year. Congratulations William!

Robert finished PreK 3 today also. He put his letters in alphabetical order using magnets and then sang the ABC song while pointing to the letters. He has also learned so much! He can count to at least 30, knows his letters and can even write some of them. Just this week he started getting into puzzels and can spend 45 minutes or more to complete a difficult puzzle on his own. I've seen him grow into his own person, but still want to do everything his brother does. Congratulations Robert!

Hannah is growing so fast. She talks so much and spends much of her time at home taking care of her "babies". She pushes them around in their strollers (yes plural), cooks for them, puts them to sleep, feeds them, carries them around, takes them to the potty (and make them go, haha) and so much more. She knows the routine and makes sure we stick to it. I was told it was nap time today after she had finished eating even though I hadn't gotten my food yet. She decided to fall asleep in my arms while I ate (she only sleeps on me anyway), so I guess it was indeed nap time. She's spunky and smart and I love her so much. Congratulations on growing up Hannah!

That's it for now. Till next time!

March 23, 2017

It's been a busy few weeks. I've either been busy at home or not been home able to write.

Two weeks ago on Tuesday after Classical Conversations (school), William decided to try to copy one of his friends on the playground and fell off the top of the monkey bars. I knew right away something wasn't right. He couldn't move his arm at all. I very calmly gathered up the kids and our stuff and headed to the car. I called Francis on the walk and by the time we were all buckled in, he had found the closest urgent care that both carried our insurance and does x-rays. We headed over and were seen pretty quickly. The kids were very good especially considering this was during nap/rest time. They took William back to x-ray his limp right arm, and they had to place it for him since he couldn't do it. In doing so, they inadvertently pop his dislocated elbow back in place. When he returned, he was feeling much better and was able to life and move his arm. The doctor (who was a specialist in sports medicine and was miraculously in that day) checked William out along with the x-rays and decided the best and safest course of action was a splint for a week. He said that William's elbow had obviously been dislocated. He saw no sign of a break, but one could easily be hiding so if there was still pain in a week, we needed to come back in. William did not love the splint and we had to keep adjusting it to get him comfortable. I am happy to say that it's been more than a week since it's removal and he seems to be doing well!

Last week was Spring Break. My mother, sisters, and the twins and my in-laws all took turns being sick with a nasty virus and cold respectively, but amazingly my kids and I dodged the bullets. We were able to go to the Dallas Aquarium with Francis's mom, the mall many times, Legoland (with the twins, Christian and my mom) in Grapevine, parks and the Heard Museum and Animal Sanctuary (also with my mom). Even with all of the sickness, we still managed to have fun. Francis had to spend spring break in College Station working on his paper for his Preliminaries coming up in a couple of weeks (pray for him!). He will be in Portland, OR starting on Friday for a conference, so he will get a trip of his own. We'll miss him! Friday evening my amazing Father-in-law brought my kids back to College Station and I got to spend time with my best friend since the 3rd grade: Ashley. We went to see Beauty and the Beast and then I spent the night at her house. I  can't tell you how precious that time was. Saturday was another special time. At Ashley's house, we had my sister Danielle's first bridal shower. It went so so well, and I would not have missed it for the world. I'm so thankful she has found the man God has for her!

Funny story while we were in Dallas: Danielle came over one night and was talking about how she was teaching her kids the equations to find the area of shapes. William chimes in how he already knows them and proceeds to rattle off the equations for areas of squares, triangles, rectangles, circles and the circumference of a circle. Danielle manages to get the circle equations on video to show her students (he wouldn't do the rest right then). Her students tell Danielle that William is just smarter than them. I laugh and tell William and he responds with "Definitely!" I cock my head to one side and look at him confused. "How do you figure?" I ask. "Well, they are older than me so they must know if I'm smarter. Why would they lie about something like that?" I really didn't have a response. His logic was pretty solid, haha. I did go on to explain that everyone knows different things, etc... but inside I was laughing so hard I was holding back tears. He may be too smart for his own good.

This week we've been getting back into school. Robert has finished his work and knows his letters and numbers and can more or less write most of them. Pretty good for a 3 and a half year old! William only has 3 or so more weeks and he'll be done with Kindergarten. That's just crazy! Hannah is also learning so much, though most of her learning is not through her "school work". She is talking so much and her brothers keep teaching her new words (I do too, but theirs seem to stick better). We have resume our evening walks now that the time has changed. The kids love it and ask for it as soon as Francis gets home. It's a special time. I've been meeting new people at the park almost every night (and seen a few familiar faces too). Overall, it's one of my favorite parts of the day.

Today we had a lady come talk about healthy nutrition at MOMS. So, this afternoon I dug out a blender and made the kids a smoothie with only fruit and a tad of milk. they loved it. Yay for a healthy choice. I try to make them as often as possible, so this was not as huge of a step as it may sound. I was just happy the kids liked it without me adding sugar. They love their fruit though, so I shouldn't have been surprised.

Till next time!

March 3, 2017

It has been a week. I'm tired and everyone is cranky. I fell getting out of the car yesterday and shredded my favorite pair of pants, and scratched up my knee significantly... That's just a taste of this week.

And while I'm not enjoying this week, I can take comfort in the fact that this restlessness it is creating is forcing me back to relying on the Father. i would have quit a thousand times over if that were an option, but because it isn't, I have to lean on Him. I find myself thanking Him for even small successes as they have been few and far between this week.

But enough unhappy. No need for everyone else to be unhappy with us. Hannah is growing and knowing her own mind more. She is playing more and more with her brothers as an equal partner and participant. Robert is also making known his thoughts about life known. He is starting to write things if I will spell them for him. I see that his practicing of letters this year is paying off as he recognizes them on signs everywhere. William is speeding through his work these days. He is becoming more self-motivated and likes to know all he has to do and then power through it. I'm impressed at how he is already becoming a semi-autonomous learner. He already reads the math word problems without me and answers them. At nap-time the other day, William read through 8 or 9 Clifford books with Robert with no help.

So in conclusion, it's true what they say: The days go slowly but the years go quickly. This week has seemed like a thousand years, but 6 years have passed in a blink.

Till next time!
