June 30, 2013

This week is a little delayed, but next week probably will be too. There is just so much going on!

Last week, William took a record 2 1/2 hour nap. When he woke up, he was visibly taller to me. Turns out (after another visit to Stride rite when he shoes wouldn't fit) he has grown ANOTHER shoe size in two months and now is in a Stride Rite size 8 Double Wide. His body is going to eventually catch up with his feet. He may take after my dad and grandads and be super tall!

Last Friday, William and I went to the swimming pool by Arlene's house with her and her little girl Caitlyn. William had a great time hanging out in the pool, but Caitlyn got tired much faster and had to leave. While I was playing with and watching William, I noticed another woman with a 4-year-old girl. I heard her say something in English and then in Korean and decided to ask her where she was from. She is from Seoul, her husband works for Samsung, and they just got transferred here 2 weeks ago! I knew exactly how she was feeling, told her what there was to do around here, and gave her my number so we could have lunch sometime. I remember the 2nd week in Suwon being the hardest because I had no friends, had unpacked everything and set up, and had done all of the "tourist" things that I could find. Fortunately she speaks excellent English, so she is one up on me in being able to communicate. I still want to make her feel welcom though! Friday we also went to Lillian's 2nd birthday party at a local splash pad. It was so fun! William loved running around in the water, he loved the cake, and he ate a whole hot dog after already having dinner an hour before. He didn't want to leave!

We finally got William a mattress for his bed and returned the mattress he had to the twin bed in the nursery. We are one step closer to completing William's room! I still want to get a dust ruffle, a window treatment and some crown molding in there before I am willing to call that project complete, but we are getting close!

William and Francis are still enjoying their new bike rides. They go around twice a week for about an hour. Francis feels like he is getting good exercise and William is enjoying the ride. They've really been bonding over it and it has given me time for things like making dinner in peace or running a quick errand while they are out.

This Whole week has been VBS culminating in the big event today. I volunteered in the preschool craft room where we had 56 five year olds rotate through and make cool things while learning about Jesus. It was a great week, but boy am I exhausted! William loved VBS! He was in a class of 11 (kids of other workers) and he got to do the petting zoo, ride around and see the rides and generally have a bunch of fun. He did get bitten by another child (really hard and it left a mark), but even that didn't deter him from wanting to go to church! We've been home maybe 10% of the time we've been awake this week because in the afternoons we've had The Little Gym, grocery shopping, my Dr. appointment, and hanging out with friends. I wouldn't have traded it for the world, but I am glad that it only lasted one week!

My appointment with Dr. Brown went well. I passed my glucose test! This is good because Robert is constantly craving sweet stuff. Heartrate was 137 and I have enough fluid. I am measuring a cm ahead which is no shock if you look at me. Yet again, I'm "all baby". Robert still (again) had his feet over his head for the sonogram and twisted and turned to show off for us all. William loves watching that and giving his brother kisses on my tummy. William was so good at both my appointment and at the Lab that he left covered in stickers (and love) by the nurses and technicians. Both my boys make this momma proud!

Friday night, Francis surprised us by coming home and taking me and William to Texas Roadhouse for Steak. It was delicious! Such a treat from my awesome husband.

Yesterday, Francis, William and I went out the aquatics center in Round Rock. You' d think we would have taken it easy, but not this family! We played in the lazy river and swam in the baby and kid's pools. William had fun, but it was super hot out and made getting out of the pool unpleasant. We had dinner at the Salt Lick (are you jealous yet? ^_^) and William ate so much I thought his little stomach would burst!

Today, we went to church where we were serenades and preached to by the precious children who attended VBS. After church we had a BBQ and had bounce houses, cotton candy and Snow Cones for all the children, workers and their families! William jumped for 30 straight minutes on one bounce house before we were finally able to coax him out with cotton candy. He crashed in the car on the way home and has been asleep for THREE whole hours (a NEW record). I need a bounce house at my house for daily use if this is the result.

Well, I have to get packing as tomorrow William and I are leaving for a week in Dallas with our family. I can't wait. Tata!

Happy Belated Father's Day!

It has been a good week. This past weekend was Father's Day and my in-laws come up on Friday night to visit for Saturday. Before they arrived, Francis's Father's Day gift arrived just in the nick of time: a trailer for William to ride in behind Francis's bike. I was thrilled. We also went Friday night to Russ and Becky's for dinner with them and Seth, Arlene and their little girl Caitlyn. It was an awesome night and we made it back in time to welcome my in-laws and head to bed. Saturday morning, after a pancake breakfast, Francis, his parents and William got to try out Francis's gift. They went on a bike ride around Pflugerville that ended at a community swimming pool. I drove the car and dropped them off and met them for lunch at Sonic before we all went swimming at the pool. William LOVED his trailer. He kept falling asleep and when they would stop, he would wake up and cry to keep going. We all loved the pool complete with a water slide that William got to ride with his Nana, Grandad and Daddy over and over again. He would get to the bottom, ride around the lazy river for a little bit, and then select the next person who was going to ride on the slide with him. He was absolutely delightful. Francis, William and his dad rode their bikes home while my mother-in-law and I drove. It was too hot and hilly for a sane person, but they had a great time anyway. William took a good 2 hour nap (nearly a record) and Francis's mom and I went to Babies are us and got a new stroller for both my boys to ride in. To which I say THANK YOU!!! I'm super excited. We had dinner at a Mongolian BBQ place and then came home and had cake. Nana and William did a show for us with some sparkly blue hats until late into the night before Francis's parents headed out to go see Cyndy and Chris. It was a great day with only one hitch. Francis lost his wedding ring at the pool. He put it in his backpack, but when he went to find it after he got home, it was missing. we think it fell out, but no one has found it. We found him a temporary replacement, but I think that I will try to find an exact copy for him for our anniversary. I know he feels bad for losing it, but it really could have happened to anyone!

Sunday, we went to church and had lunch at Olive Garden. We got in right away, but their was certainly a huge wait when we left! After William's nap, Francis and he went on another bike ride which ended in Francis having to do a few extra laps because William was unwilling to get out of the trailer saying, "more, more!" I think William has found a new hobby. We had some of the best steaks ever for dinner that francis did on the grill. William gave Francis his gifts: a handmade card and a 6 pack of IBC root beer with a hand decorated carrying case that reads "World's Best Pop!" William colored all over it and decorated it with stars. It's pretty cute. Overall a great day!

This week we've been busy with The Little Gym Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Story time today at the Library. Wednesday we also went to play group at a splash pad, and William had a great time. I was super overwhelmed because there were so many big kids, but William ran around unphased. It's been a good but busy week, and I am tired. Robert keeps me on my toes too. Whenever I relax he decides to start kicking. I am going ot have my hands full with two little boys on my hands. I can hardly wait. Less than 12 weeks to go. Come on, Baby!

June 12, 2013

I officially have a 22 month old. How did that happen?? I also have about three months until Robert gets here. My, how time flies!

It's been another busy week. We did Swim Lessons Monday and Tuesday but skipped today to go to a nearby splash pad with some friends. Tomorrow is our last day of swim lessons and I am kinda relieved. I picked a bad time of day and our instructors are not great this time around. I am thankful William already has the skills that he does or I would be worried for him. Our first week of Little Gym's Summer session started this week. William met his new teacher and she seems really nice. William is no longer the youngest in the class and boy does it show. I couldn't believe how little some of the other kids were compared to him. He's grown so much!

My mom had a nice time here for the couple of days she was in town, but I am sad we did not get to see her more. Francis, William and I went to a pool Saturday afternoon that had a wading area/splash park that included a pirate ship. William LOVED it, he swam around on his hands and knees in the 9 in deep water, slid down the pirate ship slides, manipulated the water geysers and rode on Francis's back across the deep end. He probably would have stayed the rest of his life if we had let him!

Sunday Francis and I were up to bat as stand in directors for our sunday school class for the first time. Francis did an awesome job, but I have a lot of room to grow. There are a lot of administrative tasks for which I was unprepared. We'll do better next time!

Francis's Father's Day Present should come in on Friday and I REALLY hope it makes it. I got him a trailer for the back of his bike to carry William (and Robert when he comes). Francis got a say in the final one I got so it is no big surprise, but I am still pretty excited. Francis and his parents are going to take it out for a spin on Saturday so if it is not here, we will all be pretty bummed. I even got William a helmet yesterday. He was so excited that he wore it all around Walmart and even when we got home.

I also got William a play medical kit at Walmart. He played with it this morning and kept giving me, himself, and Lucy "shots". I only hope he is excited about shots when he turns two and has to get some!

Oh, Francis finished the bookshelf for William's room last night and it looks awesome!!! I got all the books put on it and I couldn't be happier. William's room is finally coming together. It looks so cute!

That's it for now!

June 7, 2013

Wow, June already. I haven't been putting off writing; I just haven't had time!

This week has been crazy. It was the last week of the season at The Little Gym (summer session starts next week), as well as the first week of Swim lessons. Plus my mother came in town yesterday which made me determined to have a clean house when she arrived. Not to mention my usual making dinner, grocery shopping, and all the other typical errands I run in a week. It's been crazy!

My Dr. Appointment last week went well. Robert had his legs over his head and his elbow across his face for most of the sonogram which amused both myself and Dr. Brown. Every time she pushed with her wand to try and get a better look, he would kick at the wand in protest. I have a feeling he is going to be a bit like his big brother William in that regard: marching to the beat of his own drum. Heart rate was 137bpm an everything measured in normal range. Only 15 more weeks!

As I said earlier, this was our first week of swim lessons. I am less than impressed with them this year after they were so good last year. William would rather do his own thing and is too advanced for the skills they are covering. William can already kick well through the water, can hold his breath, can jump off the side of the pool and is a pretty decent floater. He loves the water and is a bit of a little fish! Thankfully the lessons are on $35 for 8 sessions or I would really feel like we didn't get our money's worth.

I may have mentioned this before, but our routine when Francis leaves in the morning is super cute. William opens the door, and Francis gives him a hug and kiss. The William invariably says, "Mama!" and points to me to make sure Francis does not forget to kiss me goodbye. When Francis does, William claps, waves and says, "bye bye!" He shuts the door behind Francis and waits in the window by the door to see Francis pull out. Francis always rolls down his window and waves bye. William waves at him wildly from inside the house and says bye again. It's so cute!!!

My mom came in yesterday after swim lessons and William, my mom and I went shopping and then were joined by Francis for dinner. It was a lot of fun. She is in meetings all day today, but I always enjoy having her here. William recognized her immediately this time and although he was "shy" at first, he warmed up quickly! He loves his Sweetie!

Well, William just woke up so I have to wrap this up. Until next time!
