July 30, 2012

And the countdown begins...for a lot of things. But I am getting ahead of myself.

William is walking so much more! He learned to spread his legs while walking on Tuesday so now he is able to stop in the middle of walking. He now has two speeds: speedy and normal. William has also started to carry around objects when he walks. It's super cute to see how proud he is! It is making him look so much more like a little boy and less like a baby. He still hasn't stood up from the floor without holding onto anything though. I don't think it is that he can't. I know he would be able, he just hasn't tried.

Friday Francis, William and I joined all of my family in Waco for Christian's birthday. My sisters, parents, grandparents, Francis, William and some of Christian's friends all had Steak and cake. Saturday in Waco, Christian graduated from Baylor Law School. I am so proud of her. William didn't make it through the ceremony, but Francis was kind enough to watch him so I could see her graduate. We all (friends and family included) had lunch at Rudy's afterward to celebrate her achievement. It was so fun and William had a blast hanging out with all the "big kids" (college students and recent grads).

This week will be spent cleaning the house like crazy...not looking forward to it, but I am looking forward to William's party on Saturday. I had three different people stop me at church on Sunday and tell me how excited they were for this coming Saturday. It's gonna be great!

Ok, now for the big news...well two pieces of big news. I am going to be going to Scotland and Ireland for a week with my sisters and mother. I leave in 2 weeks. It is the first time I will be leaving William, but Francis has taken the week off to stay with him so I know he is in good hands. Danielle will be performing in Scotland. I have such accomplished sisters!!!

And now for the BIG news. Francis, William and I will be relocating to South Korea for 6 weeks starting on September 1st. We found out on Friday that Francis was going and the idea of us being away from his so long was not one we wanted to consider. Francis's boss's wife and young son will also be going with her husband for the full time, so I will at least have one companion while Francis is at work. I am both excited and scared. If you all would pray for us as we make preparations for this adventure, we would surely appreciate it! We are going to apply for William's passport today and expedite it. Please pray it gets here speedily so we can continue plan without worrying that it will arrive in time. We would be gone September 1st through October 13th.

So as I said, the countdown begins to William turning one, to going to Scotland/Ireland and to living in Korea for 6 weeks. It's going to be an exciting ride!

July 24, 2012

Now much to report this week. I've mainly been doing a lot of cleaning while William cleverly finds new ways to climb, move, cause mischief and generally be a boy. I am trying to get the house in order for William's party in a couple of weeks. I had let it go for a bit and now I am playing catch up. I am not talking about generally weekly cleaning. I have been painting over scuffs and scratches in the walls, cleaning the grout, getting stains off the tile... you know, the things you always "mean to" do but never get around to. I still have a laundry list of tasks to complete and my back and arms are already sore!

William has been William this week. I can't think of what to say except his is becoming more like a little boy and less like a baby each day. I can't believe it!

Francis's and my 4th anniversary is August 2nd, two days before William's birthday party. So we have been celebrating our anniversary in stages to make up for it. Saturday we rented John Carter and watched it after William went to bed. We never rent/watch movies, so it was a nice change. Sunday night, our awesome neighbor Amy agreed to sit in our house after William went to bed so we could go have a nice dinner (she got to watch the Blind Side so I hope she didn't mind too much!). Francis and I went to Fleming's, an steak and wine restaurant. Since neither Francis or I drink, we stuck to the steak. I know the waiter thought we were odd. Francis had received a gift card from work for Flemings for $100 and so our meal was free (just barely!). I had an amazing filet Mignon with bleu cheese mashed potatoes. Even reheated in the microwave the next day for lunch, it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. I would go back. I hope Francis gets another gift car soon!

William just woke up so I have to go. His naps are just too short. Tata!

July 16, 2012

9 years. Wow! It has been 9 years since Francis and I started dating. In a few weeks we will have been married 4 years. Time flies! I'm so thankful for all the blessings God has bestowed. I can't wait to see what the next 9 years hold!

This has been an eventful week in the Phillips' household. William is walking so much more. He went from taking 4 steps at the most to walking across the whole house! Now he tried to walk almost everywhere and makes it at least halfway before he has to drop down and crawl. More and more often he is making it to his destination on two legs. He's getting so big. William also starting feeding himself with a spoon. He got it in his head last Tuesday that he wanted to do it, so he took the spoon away from me and fed himself the entire bowl of oatmeal. I have to hold the bowl or jar at an angle so he doesn't dump it over, but the rest is all him. It's so impressive!

William has also started pointing and "talking" about what he sees. He is trying harder and harder to communicate his wants and desires. It is nice to know what he wants. I think I am finally starting to speak his language!

My son is an incurable flirt. He has more girlfriends than I care to count. As I was leaving church on Sunday, two different nursery workers told me he was holding yet another girl's hand while out on a buggy ride. He sees a girl and he just smiles and has to go and get her attention. He does the same thing with adult women. You gotta watch out for him! He's trouble, hehe. This characteristic, at least, he did not get from his dad. I hope he outgrows it before he becomes a teenager. At least he's social!

I bought a lot of the stuff for William's party this week. It is tons of fun shopping for him. I really enjoy planning parties and getting to spend time with friends and family. It looks like we will have a full house!!! I am trying to figure out how I am going to arrange the furniture to fit everyone. It's gonna be fun!

That's all for now!

July 9, 2012

Happy belated Independence Day! It was an awesome week. I don't even know where to begin! Francis got off at 4 on Tuesday so we made to Dallas with NO traffic!!! It was amazing. I would love to do that every time.
Wednesday was the 4th of July. We started off the morning by going to the Plano parade. William got a bunch of candy and loved seeing all the people and floats. We spent the whole day with both my parents and Francis's as well as my sister Danielle. After the parade we all went back to my parents house for some of the most delicious brisket anyone could have. Yummy! We spent the afternoon in good company with tons of laughter and smiles. We had dinner at In and Out Burger and then watched the fireworks from the CCCC campus. William loved the fireworks! He kept trying to reach out and touch them. He is his daddy's son. We actually got to see two shows. We saw the Plano one, which was awesome, and while we waited for the traffic to clear, we could see the Murphy fireworks. It was great!

Thursday was Danielle 21st birthday. Happy Birthday Danielle! The morning started off with my mom, Danielle, William and I going bowling (Francis and his dad went golfing). It was fun. I actually broke 100! William didn't play, but he had fun watching and celebrating. After lunch Francis took William and Danielle, mom and I went and got pedicures. My toes look pretty! We rounded off the evening with my in-laws watching William, and Francis and my dad joining the rest of us for the Amazing Spider Man at Studio Movie Grill. I finally got some coconut tenders! We went back to my parents house for presents and cake. I got Danielle a gift card to Hancock's Fabrics. I hope she likes it!

Friday was Lake Day! Francis, William and I met my mom, dad and Danielle up at Lake Lavon where we spent the day on my parents' boat. The water was so smooth! William loved swimming and he even got to ride on the inner tube. The ride was so smooth that he fell asleep in my arms. We had some yummy steak for a late lunch and finally headed home, but not without a killer sunburn for Francis. That evening we played 500 (a card game) with Frankie's parents and just relaxed while Francis soaked in aloe.

Saturday we celebrated my mother-in-laws birthday. Cyndy and Chris had driven in late the night before with Abby. We spent the morning swimming and playing in the pool. William and Abby get along great. They kept trying to share things and no one got mad! William wants to be like Abby now. The whole weekend, he never wanted to crawl, but kept reaching for people's hands so he could walk like her! After a lunch at Chipotle, we bought the stuff to make a cake. Brandon hung out with us in the afternoon while I baked the cake (in the shape of a huge cupcake). All of Francis's family had dinner at Maggiano's. We then went to the nearby mall so Abby and William could play on the playground. William was certainly the youngest child there, but he was as big or bigger than many of the other children. He was more interested in talking and interacting with all the parents around the playground than he was playing on the equipment. He's so social! After the kiddos we in bed, we played a rousing game of Oh Heck (Dutch Blitz for you Canadians). I actually one once! It was intense! I also iced my mother-in-law's birthday cake. It was practice for William's cake next month, but it actually turned out pretty cute!

Yesterday we had lunch with my family and played with Francis's parents before heading home. It was a long trip and I am so glad to be back. William is not sleeping very well again, but I am hoping being back home will help that. I know I've forgotten a multitude of things, but that is what I have for now. Mr. Man is crying upstairs and refusing to nap so I guess I should go.

Till next time!

July 3rd, 2012

So I totally almost forgot to update today. That would have meant not updating this week which would be kind of sad. Anyway, most of this past week has been spent preparing for today: our departure for Dallas (Plano) for the rest of the week. We had little gym twice last week and another time today. William is really enjoying getting to explore and he is beginning to translate the skills to home. It is so fun to see his little brain work as he figures out a problem and implements a solution. He's amazing!

I ordered William's birthday party invitations on Thursday. I can't believe he will be one in August. And yet, as I look at him, I know he isn't the newborn I brought home from the hospital anymore. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have it any other way, but it does make me reflect on how far we've come. Which reminds me, William slept from 6:50 pm last night until 5:30am this morning. I think that is  new record. I am sure our travels this week will mess him up, but it was nice while it lasted.

We finally got William, new shoes He is now a size 5!!! Amy and I went up to the Round Rock Outlet mall on Friday for the afternoon. William was a trooper and even had his first drink from a real straw. Too bad that what he drank was a coke icee. Talk about a sugar rush. He actually NAPPED when he crashed, hehe. I am glad he is a good shopper though. Francis never has been and never will be.

Well, we leave in 2 hours. The car is all packed and we are ready whenever Francis gets off work. We will be celebrating 4th of July, and my sister (Danielle) and mother-in-law's birthdays. I am so excited. It's going to be a great week!!!

Tata!
