March 27th, 2012

Tuesday seems to be my catch up day. I am just glad to finally be getting around to writing!

First off, my little guy is a zoomer. I can't leave the room anymore without him following me. He real crawls for a little while, but always reverts to his army crawl because it is more efficient.

He's also a little climber. He can now stand up in his crib. After his nap yesterday, he sat up and stood up with no warning and he knocked the baby cam off the crib. He is pulling up on everything. Francis was sitting on the floor in the kitchen on Sunday. William crawled over to him and climbed up Francis's back. It was amazing and so fast! He can stand himself up and stay standing just using the wall now. He spent a good 5-10 minutes just standing at the back sliding glass door watching the dogs yesterday. He bounced up and down and laughed with glee. I wanted to get my camera, but I was afraid that the moment I went away, he would fall. He didn't though. So strong!

A third development this week is William's singing ability. For some reason he has started singing/humming a lot this week. Any time I start singing, he has to join in, or he will start a song on his own and look at me like I should already know the tune. His babbling has also gotten way more frequent. Just this afternoon at the super market, he was telling this complete stranger his life story, "Ba bababa ma dadada babaAAA..." and so on. Goofy kiddo!

This week we have been doing some home improvement, mainly baby proofing. We are FINALLY getting around to it. I padded the table edges and sharp corners, and Francis installed the cabinet locks. We already had up the baby gates and plug protectors. We still have a bunch to do, but it is a step in the right direction. Maybe we will finally be finished by the time he is 30.

I joined a Bible Study last week. I was worried about William since it is the longest I have left him alone during the day (nearly 3 hours), but he held up like a champ. So proud!

Finally, I have still not been sleeping well and neither has William. Your prayers in that area would be greatly appreciated. He seems to have no problem functioning on no sleep, but I do. Plus, last night he tried to climb out of the crib. Not good!

That's it for now!

March 19th, 2012

Well, since I only posted a few days ago, I will mostly just be mentioning things that were not included in my last post. William had to go to the doctor for what turned out to be allergies Wednesday before last. Guess what? He is now 20 lbs! That is crazy! He's getting so big.

Also, week before last, William also got his top two teeth. He's now a super dooper biter. My family (and I) have been feeding him almost everything we've been eating (in moderation of course). He's had tastes of all sorts of things and he chewed them up to his heart's content. His favorite thing to eat was pickles. Neither Francis nor I like pickles, but William LOVES them. It's funny to watch him bite it and then smile. He's a cutie. I took it away once to wipe his mouth and he nearly pulled my arm off trying to get it back. Silly boy.

William is also getting very good at sitting himself up. After I saw him sitting up in his crib on the monitor a couple of weeks ago, he has been getting up on all fours and then sitting himself up quite regularly. He is also starting to real crawl not just when he is angry. He still prefers the army crawl when he is trying to be fast (man can he go fast on his stomach!), but when he takes his time, he can stay on all fours and crawl a bit up high. It is so fun to see!

Medieval times was great fun. William loved all the lights and the horses. He fell asleep before the end despite my sisters' screaming at our less than agile Red Knight. It's always an adventure with my family!

William got to see his "brother" Brandon this weekend. It is weird to see your childhood friends hang out around your child. Makes you nostalgic somehow I guess. Brandon is going to make a great dad someday, once he finds the right girl!

Well, I wrote most of this post yesterday, but I got interrupted by William. He has not been sleeping. We went to the doctor this morning and he has a double ear infection. I gave him his antibiotics and he passed out from exhaustion. If you would keep him in your prayers, it would be greatly appreciated. There's been no sleeping in this house as of late.

I need to have lunch before William wakes up, so I will end this post here.

P.S. We got back our family portraits and they are awesome! Yay!

March 15th, 2012

Ok, so I am WAY late in posting this week, but to my credit I really haven't had time. It's been busy. Last week was rather quiet. I was mainly packing and gearing up for spring break. Thursday Francis took off half the day and we drove into Plano to see family. Francis has been having to work the night shift for a week. Because he had to head back to work Saturday night, we squeezed in as much fun as we could on Friday. My cousin Summer took family photos of us Friday morning. They did not go as smoothly as I had envisioned, but the result was totally worth it. They are amazing! Francis ordered the photos to be done as my Valentine's day present. I am so blessed to have him. We had dinner with my parents and mother-in-law on Friday night. It was great to catch up and just hang out. I was sad to see Francis go on Saturday, but my sister Danielle came into town and since then the fun has been nonstop.

Sunday I had lunch and got to hang out with Ashley Duran and Brittany May. I love those girls! Monday I had lunch with William and my mother and mother-in-law at Panera. I could not have asked for better company. My mom and I then went shopping (buying adorable clothing for William) while waiting for my sister Christian to get into town. We all ate at BJs that night with Christian's friend, Stephen. I don't know why, but both times William has met him, he has been quite taken with him. It is very cute.

Tuesday William got to spend some special time with his Papa (my dad) while the girls went and got pedicures. I am so glad my dad and he got some time together! Tuesday nigh was extra special because I got to hang out with Ashley again. We got to catch up and just hang out like we have not really been able to do in years. I miss her when she's not around and it is always an adventure when we are together.

Wednesday we went to...wait for it... the ZOO!!! We rode the DART train down to the Dallas Zoo. William was taken with the train and stayed awake almost the whole way. They have really fixed up the Dallas zoo. It was so nice! The weather was beautiful and their was not a huge crowd. It was perfect. William loved the Koi fished the most. He got right up to the glass and watched them with great fascination for at least 5 minutes before I dragged him away. He bounced up and down and cooed each time a huge fish passed. It was adorable. After the zoo we (my mother, sisters, William and I) met up with my dad and Christian's friend Maddie at Spaghetti Warehouse for dinner. A guy came and made us all balloon animals. William tried to eat mine, but it narrowly escaped a toothy death.

And that brings us to today. We've been shopping today (poor William!), but the real fun will be tonight when we attend Medieval Times. I think it will be great. I'll let you know how it goes.

In other news, William is getting super fast with his army crawl. He still only real crawls when he's mad. My mother discovered this the other day, so she no longer thinks I am crazy (about that at least). Just a moment ago, William was army crawling speedily back and forth across my parents' living room chasing a ball. He's so silly. The biggest news today though is that William STOOD UP FOR TWO WHOLE SECONDS without holding onto anything. He then started to waver so I caught him. My mom was right there and she was as impressed as me. William was so proud that he let out a shriek and a giggle while standing himself up straight and tall. He knew he had done something special.

Well there's a quick update. I have to feed William and get ready to go now. Ta ta!

March 6, 2012

I was hoping by waiting a day I would be able to tell you of the progress William has made in crawling. .He is a reluctant crawler. He did two full cycles on Sunday evening (hand-knee-hand-knee twice). I almost cried. Since then he has only crawled once, and it was a minute ago because he was mad and I wasn't answering him. He got up on all fours, started to crawl, but was in such a tizzy that he toppled onto his head. I was making pizza and trying to get dough off my hands. That's how I saw it. I'm glad he can do it, but I am a bit frustrated too. It will all happen in good time, I know. He would much rather pull up on anything and everything that is around him so that he can walk. It is good that he is resourceful, I just don't want him to miss out on anything. He is getting good at his sit to stand walker (the kind you hold onto and push, not the one you sit in). He did four whole steps yesterday before he ran into the oven and fell on his bum. He'll master it soon enough.

William has started waking up in the middle of the night again. I am not a fan. I am excited to be going to Dallas on Thursday for spring break because I might be able to get a few naps in while  my family plays with William. I dream big, I know.

Trying to think of what else to write. I feel a bit brain dead. William has moved to eating more solid foods. We moved to "3rd foods", foods with actual chunks in there. He transitioned without a problem. He has also been eating some table food. He is like my sister Danielle was. He knows that what we are eating is way better than his food. Tonight he had a 1/4 of a slice of pizza. If you ask him, he will tell you it was the best day ever. Little man is getting better at feeding himself. His pincher grasp is coming along and he can get cheerios in his mouth without help. I've also bought some baby snacks for him to eat during the day that require him to grasp. His favorite are the yogurt melts. No matter how upset he is, when he sees the package, he gets very quiet and opens his mouth like a baby bird. It's my secret weapon at meal times, hehe.

I really wish I could think more clearly, but the day has taken its toll. I am very excited about the coming week as it will include family portraits, spending time with family and friends in Dallas and a load of fun activities with my little man. Until then!
