Well, it's official. I've cried, laughed, and celebrated. William is one year old today. I can't believe how fast it went. A year ago right now I was transferred into the postpartum room and was getting to hold William in my arms. Where did the time go? It was well spent. William learned to smile, laugh, crawl, stand, walk, eat, communicate, speak, sign, play...and so much more. I am so proud of him.
This week we did William's 12 month photos. They turned out great. Most people's favorite is William sitting on a mini John Deere tractor. It cracks me up because we did those shots on a whim. He really wanted it to move. When we were done I did push him around on it so he was happy. I also got some priceless ones with the chair that my great grandfather made. So fun!
William has been watching the Olympics with me. He thinks it's very fun! On Wednesday, he and his friend Lilly tried their luck on the rings at the Little Gym. They were pretty good! Olympics 2028 better watch out!
Yesterday after a few attempts after the past couple of weeks, William stood up without holding onto anything. He did it over and over again. He stopped crawling entirely yesterday because now if he falls, he can stand right back up. It's crazy! William also started to sign "more" yesterday. Now he signs it all the time. At lunch today they brought him some birthday ice cream and he would sign more after every single bite!
Also at lunch today, William drew deliberately with crayons for the first time. I've tried many times to get him to color, but today it finally clicked. He loved it and it made it way easier for us to wait for our food.
This morning when William woke up and walked out of his bedroom, he found an Endless Adventures climbing wall and slide with a big red bow waiting for him in the playroom. His eyes lit up and he immediately started climbing. What a way to start off your birthday! Then after breakfast we went for a family walk with the dogs and William in his new car. It was so fun. For lunch we went to Carino's where William was treated to coloring, a panini and ice cream. After all that sugar he crashed and is still sleeping. We will do cake when he wakes up and then I have to head to the airport.
I leave for Scotland this evening. Because of the trip, today was the last day of William nursing. He is such a big boy! He is still taking bottles (as well as straw cups), but pretty soon it will be cups only! Crazy!!!
In closing I want to thank everyone who made this such a great week, both near and far. Thank you to those who sent gifts even though they couldn't attend William's party. Thank you to those for all the sweet birthday wishes. Thank you to everyone who is supporting us as we raise our little boy. We couldn't do it without you!!!
